Of course, the Lions are coming off a tough loss to the Chiefs last week, although they will be playing at home, where they’ve been close to unstoppable in recent years. On the other hand, the Bucs are already 3-0 on the road this year.

It’s worth noting that these teams are just two years removed from a memorable playoff meeting. This game is also a potential playoff preview with both teams being among the top contenders to win the NFC Championship. Meanwhile, quarterbacks Jared Goff and Baker Mayfield are both among the top five NFL MVP candidates six weeks into the season.

As mentioned, the Buccaneers are 3-0 on the road this season. They’ve also been underdogs in two of those games, helping them go 3-0 ATS on the road. But those wins came against the Falcons, Texans, and Seahawks, and playing the Lions on the road is a different kind of challenge. Since the start of the 2021 season, the Lions are 26-13 ATS at home, including 2-0 this season.

Keep in mind that Detroit was a slight underdog in both games it lost this season. The Lions have covered the spread in all three games in which they were favored this season, and covered quite comfortably in two of those wins. The fact that the Lions lost last week is also a good omen. Since the start of the 2023 season, Detroit is 8-0 ATS when coming off a loss. Dan Campbell always gets a positive reaction from his team after a loss, and there’s no reason to think Monday night will be any different.

In a parlay, we teased down the over/under just in case, although there is every reason to believe this will be a high-scoring game. The Buccaneers have hit the over in four straight games. The 49 total points in last week’s game against the 49ers is the lowest total during that stretch, which is why we teased down to 48.5 points.

Baker Mayfield as the Tampa offense rolling, while the Bucs are also giving up 25.2 points per game this year. That should make things easy for Jared Goff and the second-highest-scoring offense in the league. While good defenses have contained the Lions, they’ve scored at least 34 points in four of their six games. There’s little reason to think that either defense will be able to hold their opponent to 20 points or less, making this an easy addition to our parlay.

LaPorta is second on the Lions in targets, so Goff looks his way frequently. More importantly, the Bucs have given up the third-most touchdowns to opposing tight ends. Good tight ends have found success against Tampa’s defense, so we feel confident in LaPorta scoring points this week.
