In a battle of the NFC West, the winner of this Monday Night Football matchup will be in first place in the division.

Interestingly, should the San Francisco 49ers pull this one out, every team in the NFC West will be 2-2.

The 49ers are a slight home favorite and are coming off a brutal 11-10 loss at the Denver Broncos. The Los Angeles Rams won in Week 3, beating the Arizona Cardinals 20-12.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams: +450

Rams ML (+105)

After scoring just 10 points in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, the Rams offense has bounced back ever-so-slightly, scoring 31 and 20 in Week 2 and 3.

However, the defense allowed 25 (the Falcons scored 27, but there was an intentional safety) against the Atlanta Falcons but held the Cardinals outside the teens.

There are plenty of weapons on the Rams offense, but they face a 49ers defense that allows under 150 passing yards per game and less than 80 rushing yards per contest.

However, the 49ers have only played the Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks, and Denver Broncos this season.

The concerning part of this game is the 49ers offense that has Jimmy Garoppolo back as the starting quarterback but just can’t seem to get things going.

We could look to his lack of involvement with the team this offseason because he was supposed to be traded. If that’s the case, this offense will get right soon, but the Rams are good enough to prevent that from happening this week.

Cooper Kupp 9+ Receptions (+115)

While the 49ers have played some easier teams, we all know their defense is more than legitimate. This defense should be able to hold outside receivers Allen Robison and Ben Skowronek in check for the most part, with Emmanuel Moseley and Charvarius Ward holding it down at cornerback.

However, no matter where the lines up—mainly in the slot—Cooper Kupp will wreck this game.

When the 49ers go into nickel coverage, Deommodore Lenoir is the guy slated to line up in the slot across from Kupp. Kupp will face Moseley or Ward in two tight-end sets, but he’s far better a receiver than they are a cornerback.

He’ll have double-digit catches in this game.

Is it likely?

No, not really.

Kupp is difficult to contain, scoring three touchdowns this season and going over 100 yards in two of three games.

The 49ers will emphasize Kupp, but when you’re averaging over 11 targets per game (15, 14, and 6, respectively), that doesn’t slow down.

Kupp is a candidate to score each week and gets the best matchup on the field for the Rams offense.
