Look for this NFL Week 9 NFC West battle to be fierce as the 5-3 Seattle Seahawks take on the 3-5 Arizona Cardinals, the divisional first-place Seahawks thriving with former backup QB Geno Smith under center tossing bombs to deep threat WR D.K. Metcalf and the last place Cardinals struggling as QB Kyler Murray and HC Kliff Kingsbury visibly bark at each other during games.

The Seahawks are only .500 on the road but they have covered the spread in each of their last four games as underdogs against Arizona, and we predict them to do that here this week as they continue their three-game win streak despite the defensive struggles that have Seattle ranked 27th on that side of the ball facing Cards playmakers WR Deandre Hopkins and TE Zack Ertz.

An important matchup to watch is between the Seahawks rookie tackles – LT Charles Cross and RT Abraham Lucas – versus arguably one of the best pass rushers in the league, Cardinals DE J.J. Watt, who so far this season has been responsible for 4.5 sacks and 7 QB hits, a tough playmaker who could make mincemeat out of these two NFL newbies protecting QB Murray’s blindside.

The oddsmakers are thinking this will be a high-scoring matchup as opposed to what has typically been occurring in the NFL this season which is low-scoring games due to rusty teams, the result of a shortened preseason schedule, this a fun bet once you do a bit of research on the scoring tendencies of the Seahawks and Cardinals.

The underdog Seahawks offense has scored an average of 26.3 points per game this season whereas the favored Cardinals have posted 22.8 points every game for a total of 49.1 that is still less than what the oddsmakers are predicting here, perhaps a sign to bet under on this points total wager, a smart wager given this year has seen so many ‘under’ bettors as winners.

These two defenses are in the bottom third of the league in terms of preventing scores, with Seattle allowing opponents to score 24.9 points per game and Arizona allowing the teams they play to score 26.3 points per game, that total of 51.2 just over here, but each of Seattle’s last six games in November have gone under the total points line so we like the under for this bet.

The money line bet for this game favors the Seahawks so Seattle fans can get a chance to put money on their team to win outright with a $100 bet paying out $110 plus the original wager in the event that the Seahawks do win, but Cardinals fans must bet $130 on their team and if Arizona wins outright that wager will payout $100 plus the original investment, both put-up-or-shut-up wagers.

Keep in mind that Arizona Cardinals has lost five of their last six games as home favorites, an odd statistic given the advantage home teams typically get from their boisterous fans who might see their team’s rushing attack struggle in this one given that RB James Connor (ribs), as well as three of the offensive line, are listed as questionable to play, game time decisions worth checking back on.

On the Seahawks side, four players are listed as questionable to play here including starting C Austin Blythe (knee) and starting OLB Darrell Taylor (hip), but injuries are part of the game and the important thing for Seattle is that their deep threat receivers – D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett – and slot man Marquise Goodwin are all healthy so watch for them to connect early and often with QB Smith.
