Best NHL Prop Bets Today | NHL Player Props March 14
Tampa Bay Lightning vs New Jersey Devils
Alex Killorn O 0.5 Points -115 (DraftKings)
Our first prop bet of the day takes us to New Jersey for the Devils vs Lightning game. It involves Lightning winger Alex Killorn. Killorn is a pretty under-the-radar player but is having a solid season. The 33-year-old will finish with at least one point today. Bet on the over.
Killorn is quietly putting together a strong season for Tampa. He has 20 goals and 31 assists, and an impressive +/- of 15. The veteran has performed well all season long but has stepped up in March. In seven games, Killorn has eight points. He has only gone two games this month without a point.
Killorn is facing a tough New Jersey Devils team today. The Devils have an impressive squad and will likely win this game but not without at least one Alex Killorn point. The Nova Scotia native is not only on a tear, and he has also been shooting a lot more lately. He finished with six shots in his previous game and is averaging nearly three shots a game this month. I only say that to illustrate why he may notch a point by scoring a goal or getting an assist. Killorn has both options to hit the over, so I recommend betting on it.
Montreal Canadiens vs Pittsburgh Penguins
Evgeni Malkin O 0.5 Assists -130 (DraftKings)
Our second prop bet of the day moves us from New Jersey to Pittsburgh. This bet involves a more well-known player in Evgeni Malkin. Malkin is far past his prime but still performs at a high level. The center can score with efficiency and is a talented passer. Malkin will secure at least one assist today. Bet on the over.
Malkin is probably in the final 3-5 seasons of his career, but he is still dangerous with the puck. He is second on the Penguins with 70 points (23 goals, 47 assists) and having an excellent month of March. The 36-year-old is yet to score this month but has eight assists. Two of those assists came in his previous game against the New York Rangers. These eight assists have come in his previous five games. However, this streak is particularly impressive because some of those assists have come against bad teams (Columbus Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers), and some have come against good teams (New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning).
Malkin will be facing the Montreal Canadiens in this matchup. The Canadiens are having a horrendous season and allow over 3.6 goals per game. Since Montreal’s defense is so weak, Malkin will have plenty of chances to set up Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, Rickard Rakell, and Jason Zucker with scoring opportunities.

We will stay in Pittsburgh for our third prop bet. Jake Guentzel is having another outstanding season for the Penguins. The 28-year-old is following up his 84-point performance last season with 58 points in 62 games this year. Guentzel will have another efficient game today and score at least one goal. Bet on the over.
Guentzel has failed to score against the Canadiens this season but will have plenty of opportunities today. As I mentioned in the previous prop, Montreal allows over 3.6 goals per game, so a Penguins’ goal will always be around the corner in this matchup.
Guentzel will have his opportunities against the Canadiens, but there are other arguments to be made. The American has three goals in his last games. However, he failed to score in his previous matchup against the New York Rangers. This may sound like a problem, but it is not. Guentzel has made a habit in the last month of rarely going more than one game without a goal. Simply put, he is due to score today. Bet on the over.
Washington Capitals vs New York Rangers
Vladimir Tarasenko O 2.5 Shots on Goal -118 (DraftKings)
I have finished discussing the Penguins and will move on to the New York Rangers for the fourth prop bet. The Rangers made some big trades at the Trade Deadline. One of those big trades landed them veteran winger Vladimir Tarasenko. Tarasenko’s production has dropped a little bit since last season, but he is still a huge pickup for New York. The 31-year-old is not afraid to shoot and will finish with three shots or more in this game. Bet on the over.
Tarasenko has not scored in his previous four games but has had no problem shooting the puck. He is coming off a six-shot game against the Pittsburgh Penguins and averaging nearly 3.7 shots per game over his last three games. Tarasenko is on a shooting tear and about to face a Washington Capitals squad that allows over 30 shots a game. I do not need to say anything else. Tarasenko will hit the over.
Ottawa Senators vs Edmonton Oilers

It was not my intention to only pick overs today, so I promise to pick some unders for tomorrow’s prop bets. Our final prop involves new Ottawa Senator Jakob Chychrun. Chychrun came over to Ottawa in a Trade Deadline deal and has had mixed results so far. The defensemen has four points in six games. However, he will notch another point today. Bet on the over.
Chychrun will be facing an Edmonton Oilers team with an excellent offense but a subpar defense. This will present some interesting situations on the defensive end but will also give him many scoring opportunities. Edmonton allows over 3.3 goals per game, so the 24-year-old will have his fair share of chances to get a point.
In case my first argument was not enough, I will add this. Chychrun has seen the Oilers once this season and secured a point in that matchup. The American knows how to perform well against the Oilers and will do so again today. Bet on the over.
