The first game of the night for the NHL set as the Boston Bruins visit the Tampa Bay Lightning as favorites, but not by a wide margin. The Bruins have been by far the better team this season defensively.
While the Lightning are just barely more efficient than the Bruins, it is their defense that is going to be the downfall on Monday. Tampa Bay is ranked 27th in the league in goals allowed per game (3.61), this is going to allow the Bruins’ offense to create a highly consistent scoring opportunity.
Bruins forward David Pastrnak leads Boston in total points accounted for (27) in 16 games this season. He has nine more points than forward Brad Marchand. Pastrnak has accounted for 11 goals and 16 assists this season.
The Lightning are going to have a hard time suppressing the reliable offense of the Bruins, who like to wait for solid opportunities to score rather than rush their offense.

After a rough streak, the Colorado Avalanche have won three consecutive. The Avalanche won three games with huge scores thanks to the incredible passing on offense. Colorado has climbed their way to becoming one of the top offenses in the league by averaging 3.81 goals per game, third in the league.
Among the most active players for the Avalanche's offense is defender Cale Makar. In the last three games, Makar has combined for seven assists with three each in the last two games.
The Avalanche are taking on the Nashville Predators, whose defense has allowed opposing offenses to have their way. Nashville is ranked 22nd in the league in goals allowed per game (3.38). With the Avalanche having solid momentum and Makar playing great on offense to set up shots, look for Colorado to continue their winning streak.

The San Jose Sharks have shown signs of not getting better on the defensive side of the ice. The Sharks are ranked last in the NHL in goals allowed per game (4.24), one of only two teams to allow 4.0 or more goals per game.
They are set to take on the Vancouver Canucks, who are looking to rebound after losing three of their last five games. They will look to set up multiple shots behind the passing of center Elias Pettersson and defender Quinn Hughes.
Through 18 games, Hughes has accounted for a team-high 21 assists. Against this Sharks' defense, it will not be hard for the Canucks to score. It also helps the Canucks that they possess the top-scoring offense in the league (4.17 goals per game).
