When people look at this game in terms of the standings, they’re likely thinking, “I’m not watching that!” However, if you’re thinking about laying down a wager, this game could actually be a pretty excellent start to the weekend. A win for Arizona allows them to claw back a bit and keeps Chicago in their sights. A win for the Hawks could allow them to slingshot their way up from the near-bottom of the barrel. There’s actually a lot on the line here for two albeit brutal teams here.

Coyotes Vs Chicago Blackhawks

If you’re a casual hockey fan looking for a game between a pair of titans, you’re likely not watching this tilt. If you’re reading this article though, you’re likely not just a hockey fan, you’re one who likes to get in on the action. So, for you, this game may have a little bit of everything.

Arizona Is a Trainwreck on Wheels

Arizona has firepower. They have veteran stars. They have great potential. What they don’t have is execution (or about a thousand other things). They have the league’s worst penalty kill, the second-worst power play, and the worst overall record with just three points. It would have actually been really difficult for the Coyotes to get off to a worse start to the season. So, with that in mind, there’s really nowhere to go but up.

After claiming goaltender Scott Wedgewood off waivers last week from New Jersey, the Yotes have given themselves a bit of a chance. He’s looked more like a pitching wedge than a lob with a 1-2-1 record and 2.66 goals against. He’s a refreshing breath of fresh air for a club that boasts the league’s worst goals against. Since Carter Hutton went down with a lower-body injury a few weeks ago, they turned to backup Karel Vejmelka and learned quickly that he wasn’t ready to take the reins. A big performance from Wedgewood could make a huge difference.

Chicago Needs to Gain Ground

There’s a lot more on the line for the Blackhawks. They’re currently nipping at the heels of the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars in the Central Division and Seattle Kraken as well in the West. A big two points could make a massive difference for the Hawks with the Avs and Stars still trying to sort out their slow starts. With the talent on both of their squads though, Colorado and Dallas won’t be in the cellar for long which adds even more importance to this one for Chicago.

The Blackhawks need to load the net and just basically fire everything at the opposing tender. Chicago needs to take full advantage of playing against the league’s worst team and use this game as not only a building block, but a momentum builder moving forward.

The Coyotes have only won 17 of their last 52 on one day of rest. Meanwhile, the OVER has hit in four of Chicago’s last six Friday nighters.
