The Vegas Golden Knights will stay in Dallas for Game Four of this Eastern Conference series. The Golden Knights won Games One in Two in intense overtime battles but destroyed Dallas in Game Three. Vegas only put up 16 shots but scored four goals off those 16 shots. On the other side, Dallas shot 34 times and was shut out. The Stars have simply outbattled the Golden Knights in this series and have a 3-0 lead as a result of it.
The Golden Knights may have scored four goals in Game Three, but their defense and goaltending have played a larger role. They have held the Stars to five goals in this series. This is especially impressive since the Stars averaged 3.41 goals per game this season. Vegas will definitely score a couple of goals today, but their defense must continue to excel.
The Golden Knights have seen some excellent performances from Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Chandler Stephenson, Ivan Barbashev, and Jonathan Marchessault. Eichel leads the Golden Knights with 16 points, and Mark Stone is right behind him with 15 points, but the other three have all played significant roles and each have 13 points. Vegas has an incredibly balanced offensive attack and does not depend on one or two different players to score. This is a huge benefit for them and makes them the better team.
Adin Hill will probably be in net for the Golden Knights today. Hill is coming off the game of his career. He saw 34 shots and saved every one of them. The 27-year-old played sparingly during the regular season but has excelled since being thrust into the limelight.
The Stars’ defensemen have been decent in this series, but they are not seeing the proper production from their center and winger. Dallas has had no problem shooting but has struggled to score goals. They must take a different approach today and hope it results in some much-needed scoring.
Roope Hintz, Jason Robertson, and Joe Pavelski have starred for Dallas in the Playoffs. Hintz has an absurd 22 points, Robertson has 11 assists, and Pavelski has eight goals. Jamie Benn would also be on this list, but he will be serving the first game of a two-game suspension today.
Jake Oettinger will likely get the start for the Stars. Oettiinger dominated the regular season but has not had that same focus in the Postseason. He gave up three goals on five shots in a little over seven minutes in Game Three and is allowing over three goals a game in the Playoffs. The 24-year-old is not showing up when it matters most. He must bring his A-game today, or the Stars’ season will be over.
The Golden Knights have figured out the Stars and will sweep the Stars today. Bet on Vegas.
The Golden Knights are the underdogs but will win if they score first and win faceoffs.
The Golden Knights have a lot more momentum than the Stars right now. They have a 3-0 lead in this series and have won their previous five games. They must bring this momentum into this matchup and take advantage of it. They can do so by scoring the first goal.
Vegas outplayed the Stars in Game Three, but they also benefitted from sloppy goaltending. Dallas will have better goaltending today, so the Golden Knights must shoot more. They can get more shots by winning more faceoffs. That will be the key to victory.
The Stars are the favorites but can only win if they draw penalties and make up for Jamie Benn’s absence.
The Stars are converting over 29% of their power plays in the Playoffs. This unit must score today, but that can only happen if Dallas draws penalties.
As I mentioned above, the Stars will be without Jamie Benn. This is a huge loss, but Dallas can make up for it if each winger does a little more on the ice than normal.
How can the Golden Knights’ key play not be Adin Hill? Hill has been an animal in net this series and must continue to dominate in this game. I would not be surprised if he sees over 30 shots this game, so he will need to play to his potential.
Jason Robertson led the Stars in points during the regular season but has been quieter in this series. The winger has two goals and one assist but must step it up today. Dallas is on the brink of elimination, so Robertson must have the game of his life. The winger also must make up for the absence of Jamie Benn.
