Lightning vs Islanders Predictions and Picks

In the words of Huey Lewis, “If this is it, please let me know.” The Islanders need to show some life here or PLEASE let us know! After dropping game five by a score of 8-0, bettors are furious with the Isles, and for good reason. There’s no more toying around. There can be no more cute plays. It’s put up or shut up time for the N-Y-I as elimination looms in game six.

Our Pick

We know it sounds crazy, but we can see an absolute war on the ice at Nassau in this one.

We love the thought of this game going the distance, but that taste is a little too bold for our coffee. So, we’ve decided to go with what looks like the inevitable and that’s Tampa Bay moving on.

The beauty of this pick is that it can be a win-win if you’re a true fan of the game. You could win your bet and all is well or the series goes seven and everybody wins because who doesn’t love a game seven decider?

Our Pick
At the end of the day, we’re taking Tampa Bay for the win.

As predicted last time out, the team that establishes the early lead is going to take game five. We hate to toot our own horn, but that did happen and it was just the tip of the iceberg. Nobody could have predicted the Islanders not registering a goal and absolutely nobody would have guessed the Bolts would score eight. We now head into a game six that could spell curtains for fishermen unless they right the ship.

The Storm Can’t Stop

Tampa Bay has established dominance in this series. They came out absolutely swinging in game five and with an eight-goal win under their belts now, it’s going to be hard for bettors to trust New York again.

So, with that, where does the smart money sit for game six?

Sadly, you’re not going to win a bunch by going straight money line on Tampa here.

However, if you decide to hit up some goal props or perhaps the OVER/UNDER, you may see a decent return, and the trends are on your side.

In this game, the Bolts cannot afford to not fill the net. They must keep their foot on the gas and with that in mind, you could profit off their tenacity.

So far the total goal count in this series has gone three, six, three, five, eight. In other words, the standard 5.0 goal O/U, may not be your best option. If you dig a little deeper though on DraftKings and pull up the Away Team Totals, you may be laughing once the clock reads zeroes.

Since game one, Tampa Bay haven’t scored less than two and have gone four or more twice. You could go OVER 3 for +105 or OVER 3.5 for +163.

Of course, neither is a sure thing, but if you’re looking to make money on a Lightning bet in game six, there’s a lot of wind blowing in your direction.

Both Islanders goalies got lit up last game and there will be a bit of a goaltending question mark heading into this one. With that much distrust in the Isles crease, it could be time to start betting against the netminders.

Time to Catch Some Bottom Feeders

That heading is the best fisherman/garbage man pun we could think of.

It rings 100-percent true for this game though. The Islanders are going to need some ugly goals and the best (and really only) way to do that is to throw everything at the net all night long.

It’s been very well noted at this point that New York’s net was raided on Monday night. What hasn’t been talked about enough (in this article or anywhere) is that Tampa doubled the visitor’s shot count (42-21).

If New York wants to stay alive and see a seventh and deciding game, the problem isn’t in their own crease, it’s the lack of chances they’re getting in Tampa’s.

They can’t afford to give Andrei Vasilevskiy another easy night and must keep the pressure up throughout. With that said, you can find some good in-game props for the Islanders Goals By Period. They’re currently getting decent odds all the way through regardless of whether it’s the opening, middle or final frame. If the Isles can score regardless, there’s a few extra ways to capitalize here without saying the N-Y-I will be victorious.

Now, obviously, you’ll find some of the most favorable odds if you decide to wager that the Islanders will win. Understandably, though, a lot of people may be a little hesitant to do that. This may be your next best option.

The Bolts have won 13 of their last 18 when hitting the ice as favorites.

The Islanders have taken seven of their last 10 on home ice as underdogs.

Head-to-head these two have hit the UNDER in four of their last seven.
