Spread: Missouri -6.5 (-110) / Princeton +6.5 (-110)
Moneyline: Missouri -275 / Princeton +220
Total: 150.5 (-110)
Missouri beat Utah State 76-65 in their first game. Their scoring was as expected, but their play on defense caught people's eyes as they held a good Utah State team to 65 points. The Tigers were dead last in the SEC in opponent scoring but have been able to win games thanks to an offense that is 23rd in the country in scoring (79.5 PPG). Their success comes from their ability to generate good shots, leading them to make 47.3% from the field, including 36.1% from three.
Princeton shocked the country on Thursday by coming back to beat #2 Arizona. The Tigers were able to pull off the five-point win by limiting Arizona’s ability to shoot the three. The Wildcats are sixteenth in the country, making 38.2% of their three-point attempts but only 18.8% against Princeton. We’ll see if that carries over to Saturday, as this was not something Princeton was known for in the regular season (4th in Ivy).
Princeton played Arizona tough, but the Wildcats missed a lot of good looks from three. That was the big reason for Princeton’s win, holding the Wildcats to 55 points as a result. Don’t expect to see that replicated against an offense that is just as dangerous. Missouri is one of the top three-point shooting teams in the nation, making 36.1% of their attempts. They showed their ability against a good Utah State team that they were two-point underdogs against. The Tigers will continue that on Saturday for an easy trip to the Sweet 16.
We are jumping on the over 150.5 bet, as this Princeton defense is not what their Thursday box score shows.
Not a ton of great bets here, but we like the final score to be between 141 to 150, which is +275 on the BetMGM Sportsbook.
Spread: San Diego State -5.5 (-110) / Furman +5.5 (-110)
Moneyline: San Diego State -250 / Furman +200
Total: 137.5 (-110)
The Aztecs were able to win the Mountain West regular season title and conference tournament thanks to their elite defensive play. They are 28th in the country in opponent scoring (63.6 PPG) and are ninth in defending the three (29.3%). They held off Charleston, thanks to limiting them to just 57 points. Their offense has been a liability most of the season as they rank in the bottom half of the Mountain West in scoring (72.1%) and field goal percentage (44.4%). They’ll need more offense on Saturday, as Furman showed they could handle elite defense by beating Virginia on Thursday.
Speaking of Furman, they pulled off an upset in the most exciting game of Thursday to advance. They beat an excellent Virginia team, thanks to making over 39% of their threes. What is most impressive is that the Paladins went down big in the second half but were able to battle back for the win. Their offensive play has been among the best in the country, ranking 7th in scoring (82.1 PPG) and 18th in field goal percentage (48.3%). Their defense has been average, but it won’t need much to compete with this SDSU offense.
We love Furman here, but we don’t think the Aztec offense can be relied on. Even if they can hold Furman offensively, the Paladin defense confounded a Virginia unit two days ago. In the Aztecs' last five games, they average 63.4 points.
This one should be close, but we love Furman to win.
We like them to win, but the Furman +5.5 may be the safest bet of Saturday.
We love the Furman to win by 1-5 points prop, which is currently +450 at BegMGM Sportsbook.

I am a huge sports fan; locally, many know me as the guy who does the PA for our high school football team on Friday nights. Having grown up in Michigan, I am a sports fan of all the Detroit teams, and at the college level, I love Michigan State sports.
