A “sweat” is a popular sports betting term used to designate someone going through the worry of losing a bet, but FanDuel is now offering a $1,000 “no-sweat first bet” to all new customers who sign up using a FanDuel promo code ahead of the Friday NBA games on NBA TV.
Games include the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Miami Heat and the Toronto Raptors at the Los Angeles Lakers—more on those and the offer below.
In case you’re worried about any annoying qualifying standards or hoops to hurdle, none of that exists. All you need to do is follow these five simple steps to redeem the FanDuel $1,000 “no-sweat first bet” offer.
FanDuel is the leading operator of sports betting in America. It started as a daily fantasy company and has quickly become the go-to for many sports bettors in states with legal sports betting markets.
Customers can use the no-sweat first bet to get in the door, where they will then find even more promotions such as odds boosts, parlay boosts, and refer-a-friend. All of these increase the excitement and profitability of being a FanDuel customer.
NBA bettors will also want to gain a level of familiarity with their new sportsbook before marquee events such as March Madness and the NBA playoffs arrive.
Customers must be 21 or older, in a state where the welcome offer is active, and may not already have a FanDuel account to be eligible to receive the $1,000 no-sweat first bet.
We said earlier that a “sweat” is when bettors are stressing over the result of a bet. The no-sweat first bet takes the worry out of betting by guaranteeing participants 100% refunds (up to $1,000) in the form of bonus bets.
Bonus bets are tokens of native currency that can be used to win cash prizes, just as regular cash can. So in the event that a customer’s first bet misses, they will still have the same betting power they started with because of the bonus bets.
Bonus bets cannot be withdrawn or transferred but are redeemable in any fixed-odds market on the FanDuel sportsbook. Bonus bets will be processed within 72 hours and have 14 days to be used before they expire for no value. Full terms and conditions apply and can be found on FanDuel.
The Cavaliers start the day of basketball off by taking a visit to South Beach to meet the Heat. The season series is split 1-1 thus far, but the fourth-place Cavs (41-26) have had a more productive campaign than the seventh-place home team (35-31). Regardless, both have a lot to play for as the Cavs attempt to hold off the surging New York Knicks and the Heat look to climb out of the play-in tournament.
Cleveland is one of the most well-balanced teams in the entire league. They have a relentless scorer in Donovan Mitchell, a floor general in Darius Garland, wing shooters, and elite interior defenders. The Heat is not as talented but has an ethos they stick to and a few All-Stars in Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.
No teams have allowed fewer points per game than Cleveland and Miami. That alone sets the stage for a low-scoring battle—Mitchell could be one player in for a particularly rough outing as he is averaging just 14.5 points and has not scored more than 16 points against this opponent this season. Betting the under on his scoring total could be a strong play.
The late game features one team making quite the journey from Northeast Canada (the Raptors) to the West Coast to take on the home team, the Lakers. Toronto is stuck in the nine seed in the Eastern Conference and does not seem likely to move out of the play-in in either direction, whereas the Lakers are putting it together at the right time.
LA’s recent success comes after it traded Russell Westbrook to the Utah Jazz, who then bought him out and allowed him to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers have climbed from the 13th seed to the ninth and have done so despite LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell missing time with their respective injuries.
Sports betting is often about finding the hot hand, and right now, that team is the Lakers. On an individual level, Anthony Davis has thrived since LeBron went out of the lineup, boosting his scoring, rebounds, and blocking average. The over on his props in those markets, as well as a points+rebounds total, looks appetizing.
