Renato Moicano (16-2-1) vs Chan Sung Jung (14-5) – Featherweight division

Two explosive fan favorites and top featherweight contenders face off in the octagon for the first time opposite each other this Saturday night in what is sure to be a slug fest. Both coming off defeats, Renato Moicano will do battle with Chan Sung Jung with the goal of getting back in the win column and one step closer to featherweight division champion Max Holloway.

Renato Moicano, 30, has gone 2-2 in his last four fights. After suffering his first career loss at the hands of the last man to challenge for the title, Brian Ortega, Moicano went on a two fight streak that saw him defeat both Calvin Kattar and Cub Swanson. Moicano’s last fight was on February 2 of this year where he went up against featherweight legend Jose Aldo. Aldo would TKO Moicano in the second round of their fight held in the home country of both men – Brazil.

Moicano, meaning Mohawk, stands at 5 feet, 11 inches tall and has a reach of 72 inches. He currently is affiliated with the American Top Team gym in Coconut Creek, Florida. The gym is associated with many top UFC fighters including interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier. Moicano has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Alex Leleco as well as a black prajied in muay thai. Moicano currently finds himself ranked number-5 in the UFC featherweight division.

Chan Sung Jung, 32, is no stranger to exciting fights. He has six performance bonuses in six UFC fights as well as submission of the year honors for 2011. Jung had won three in a row after entering the UFC including a win over Dustin Poirier. He then lost a title fight against then champ Jose Aldo. Jung has only recently returned to action after departing for mandatory military service in South Korea. He returned in 2017 to knockout Dennis Bermudez but he was stopped via KO in the final second of his last fight against Yair Rodriguez on November 10, 2018.

The Korean Zombie will have a two-inch height disadvantage, standing at 5 feet, 9 inches tall. The reach between him and Moicano is even at 72 inches however. He trains with his own Korean Zombie MMA and possesses a fourth-dan black belt in Hapkido karate, a third-dan black belt in taekwondo, a black belt in judo, and a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He is currently ranked number twelve by the UFC – largely in part to his time away.
