Germaine de Randamie (8-3) vs Aspen Ladd (8-0) – Women’s bantamweight division

The former (and first ever) women’s featherweight champion, Germain de Randamie, has moved back to the weight she has been known for most of her MMA career to take on one of the brightest up-and-comers not only in the women’s division, but in all of the UFC – Aspen Ladd.

Germain de Randamie, 35, had won two fights in a row before moving up a weight class to fight Holly Holm for the inaugural women’s featherweight championship. She defeated Holm by unanimous decision but failed to defend the title due to a hand injury and a little bit of controversy. De Randamie last fought on November 10, 2018 where she faced, and defeated, Raquel Pennington via unanimous decision. She is now on a four-fight winning streak.

”The Iron Lady” stands at 5 feet, 9 inches tall and has a reach of 71 inches. She has a muay thai and boxing style and fights out of Utrecht, Netherlands with fight team CSA Holland. She has been active in MMA since 2008 and also possesses an undefeated professional kickboxing record at 37-0. She is the number-one ranked fighter in the women’s bantamweight division.

Aspen Ladd, 24, has been making waves ever since joining the UFC. She announced that she was surprised to receive main event status for this card but she seems to be the only one that thinks so. The undefeated fighter has a perfect 8-0 record and had only one amateur loss. Ladd last fought earlier this year on May 19 where she defeated Sijara Eubanks by unanimous decision. It was Ladd’s second decision victory over Eubanks. Sandwiched between Ladd’s two fights against Eubanks were two TKO victories for Ladd over Tonya Evinger and Lina Landsberg.

The American Ladd stands at 5 feet, 6 inches tall – giving up three inches to her opponent. She will also have a disadvantage in the reach department, having only a 66 inch reach – shorter than de Randamie’s by five inches. Ladd fights with the MMA Gold team and has a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. She officially ranked fourth in the UFC bantamweight rankings.

Urijah Faber (34-10) vs Ricky Simon (15-1) – Bantamweight division

After more than two years spent in retirement, former WEC champion and Team Alpha Male coach Urijah Faber is stepping back into the Octagon at the age of 40. Faber last fought on December 17, 2016. On that night, Faber fought Brad Pickett and won by unanimous decision. Prior to that, Faber had lost two fights in a row: one to a then up-and-coming Jimmie Rivera and one to his long time MMA nemesis Dominick Cruz.

”The California Kid” stands at 5 feet, 6 inches tall and has a reach of 67 inches. The orthodox fighter fights out of Sacramento, California at his Team Alpha Male gym. He has a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Fabio Prado and has NCAA division I wrestling credentials.

Ricky Simon, 26, has only three UFC fights under his belt but that is not to say we will be an easy task for Urijah Faber. Quite the opposite in fact. Simon is currently riding the wave of an eight fight win streak. His last fight came at UFC 234 on February 10. On that card, Simon defeated Rani Yahya by unanimous decision. Prior to that, Simon won another decision victory and prior to that, at Simon’s UFC debut, he defeated Merab Dvalishvili by guillotine choke and was awarded a fight of the night bonus.

Ricky Simon stands at the same height as Faber at 5 feet, 6 inches, but will have a two inch reach advantage over his opponent. Josh Emmett, 34, last fought on March 30 where he defeated Michael Johnson by a third-round knockout punch. The KO was a huge bounce back victory as prior to the Johnson fight, Emmett had lost to Jeremy Stephens in early 2018 – a loss in which Emmett suffered multiple facial fractures.

Emmett stands at 5 feet, 6 and one half inches tall. He has a reach of 70 inches. Emmett trains with his coach, co-main eventer Urijah Faber, at the Team Alpha Male gym in Sacramento, CA. His last fight was on the UFC 225 card on June 9, 2018. There he fought, and defeated, Ricardo Lamas via split decision. Prior to that he had a TKO win over Godofredo Pepey.

At 5 feet, 8 inches tall, Bektic will have two inches of height advantage. However, his reach is equal to his opponent’s at 70 inches even. The Bosnian fights out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada with the Tristar gym which is notable for being the training ground for former two-weight champion Georges St. Pierre. He has also worked with American Top Team. Bektic is currently ranked at number 12 in the division.
