UFC 242 - Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Dustin Poirier - Early Odds and Betting Lines

Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, 30, last fought on October 6, 2018, against former champion Conor McGregor. Khabib extended his undefeated streak with a fourth-round submission victory but the post-fight melee that saw the champ soar over the cage and into the crowd caused him to be suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. During that time, contender Dustin Poirier faced featherweight champion Max Holloway for the interim lightweight title. Poirier defeated Holloway via unanimous decision.

It has been rumored over the past few months that Khabib and Poirier will unite the titles in Abu Dhabi and now it has been made official. UFC President Dana White announced yesterday that the two will face off in the main event of UFC 242 on September 7.

Upon the announcement, Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier opened as the heavy betting underdog, which comes with little surprise as Khabib is undefeated in MMA with a record of 27-0. Poirier, also 30, is 25-5-1 in MMA and is riding a five-fight winning streak.

The betting lines will shift between now and fight night but it can be expected that Khabib will remain the heavy favorite heading into the September 7 main event.
