Fans of Caitlin Clark and the Fever saw the star and her team nearly get their first win Monday against the Connecticut Sun. Bettors must now decide whether they saw enough improvement to put money down on the Fever getting win No. 1 vs. the Storm in Seattle Wednesday night.
Seattle and Indiana were both dreadful teams last season. While Indiana has had some early struggles this year as well, their play against the Sun Monday showed promise. The Storm's revamped roster has been competitive, but Seattle has yet to do much better than the Fever at 1-3.
Let's look at the betting odds for the Fever vs. Storm and our pick for the game. Also, check out Daily WNBA Player Props focused on Caitlin Clark.
Connecticut dominated Indiana in their season opener, but Clark and the Fever were like a different team Monday night. After taking a 70-68 lead in the fourth quarter following a 33-foot three-pointer by Clark, the Sun did not pull ahead for good until Tyasha Harris made a layup with 2:51 left.
However, moral victories mean nothing in the standings and with sportsbooks. But the Fever won ATS for the second game in a row, giving bettors and fans reason to think the Fever’s first win is right around the corner.
Indiana won the season series last year with Seattle, 2-1 SU and ATS. The OVER went 1-2. But Seattle is a different team, and the Fever have yet to establish an identity this season.

It is not hard to understand why there was so much buzz around the Fever to start the 2024 season. An already talented roster added a generational talent in Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark. The potential on paper was through the roof.
However, what many fans and bettors should have taken into consideration was the need for chemistry. It takes time for that to develop, and Clark and the Fever have not had much of it yet. In the first two games of the season, there was clearly not much of it. But then there were signs of life in the second loss to the Liberty.
The Fever had a shot to beat the Sun in Monday’s rematch but fell short.
In the Storm, the Fever will face a team similar to what they are. Both struggled last season and added some key personnel in the offseason. While the pieces may be in place, it takes time for them to figure out how to play together.
For the Fever to have a shot at their first win, Clark can’t be hampered by the ankle injured Monday night, and the offense needs to continue to develop.

With the talent the Storm brought in during the offseason, namely Skylar Diggins-Smith and Nneka Ogwumike, to pair with 2023 scoring champ Jewell Lloyd, expectations were high for Seattle. But, like Caitlin Clark and the Fever, the Storm will need time to develop some chemistry.
But chemistry is the least of their worries heading into Wednesday’s game. The more significant concern will, of course, be Nneka Ogwumike and her ankle. She injured it in Seattle’s 2OT loss to Minnesota and has not played since.
Diggins-Smith and Lloyd led the team to their first win of the season over Washington in the first game without Ogwumike. They put up a decent fight against New York on Monday but were never really a threat to upset the Liberty.
The Storm will be better if Ogwumike can play, but the smarter decision may be to hold her out. They can overcome another early-season loss if it means not losing Ogwumike for more time because they brought her back too soon.
With or without her, the key will be keeping pressure on Clark and not letting her heat up.
Bet on Seattle Storm at FanDuel
Seattle’s offense was fine without Ogwumike against Washington but struggled against New York. But the Liberty have the No. 1 defense in the WNBA, so that’s not surprising. Indiana has allowed a league-worst 93.3 ppg this season, so the Storm offense should be fine with or without Ogwumike.
The stats paint a bleak picture for the Fever, but you have to consider how much they have improved over their last two games. Offensively, the team has made significant strides, with four starters scoring in double figures on Saturday against the Liberty and Monday against the Sun.
Clark is playing less like a star-struck rookie and more like the superstar she was in college. If Clark and the Fever offense can continue to improve, the Fever have a great shot at getting win No. 1.
