Rivals USA and Mexico both advanced to the Concacaf Gold Cup Semifinal with respective wins over Jamaica and Guatemala. The US combined for a series of passes the full length of the pitch to set up a brilliant finish by Clint Dempsey. The American playmaker made up for his sitter against Guadeloupe with a cool and collected touch around the Jamaican keeper. Chicharito on the other hand, secured Mexico into the semis with a 2-1 victory over Guatemala. The striker’s backheel is worth seeing twice while teammate Gabriel Marquez was fortunate to survive this horrific challenge. Chico has scored an impressive six goals in four Gold Cup matches. The US will play Panama while Mexico faces Honduras in the semifinals doubleheader in the Houston Reliant Stadium on Wednesday the 22nd. The Final is scheduled for Saturday the 25th.
