The Orioles won the American League East last season, and they’re picked second to repeat in 2023. Check out our weekly divisional breakdown if you want some AL East futures.
Baltimore signed former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes in the offseason, and he will pitch on Opening Day. Burnes is one of the most dominant pitchers in the game, coming from the National League.
National League hitters were starting to adjust to Burnes, so the change of scenery should benefit the wing. Burnes was 10-8 with a 3.39 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP in 2023.
He kept the bases cleaner than many pitchers in baseball, ranking fifth in WHIP. He will pitch against Patrick Sandoval, one of the weaker Opening Day starters.
Sandoval was 7-13 with a 4.11 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP in 2024. We expect the Orioles' young crew of hitters like Adley Rutschman, Ryan Mountcastle, and Gunnar Henderson to jump on Sandoval early at home.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be a heavy favorite in every game they play. They’ll be viable parlay pieces throughout the season, and we trust them on Opening Day.
Los Angeles split their opening series in Korea against the Padres. They have an advantage on Opening Day because they have already played competitive baseball this year.
Tyler Glasnow will pitch for Los Angeles and posted substantial numbers at the start of the year, considering he wasn’t ready. Glasnow went five innings against San Diego and recorded three strikeouts with two earned runs.
He will throw against Miles Mikolas, and the Los Angeles offense should shred the wing. Mikolas was 9-13 with a 4.78 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP in 2023. Los Angeles has one of the biggest payrolls in baseball, and it should show up against a rebuilding Cardinals team.

The Giants and Padres both have viable offenses. San Francisco made a lot of noise in the offseason, adding Matt Chapman from the Blue Jays. Chapman is coming off a down season, but he is a tremendous hitter who can get hot quickly.
The Padres have underperformed with their current roster, but Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. are two of the scariest hitters in the game. Yet, we’re still playing the under of 7.5 runs in this contest.
Yu Darvish will throw against Logan Webb. Darvish is a liability in this contest, but he is still one of the more reputable pitchers in the game.
Darvish looked strong against the Dodgers in his first start of the year and should be even better against the Giants. Webb has owned the Padres throughout his career, and very few San Diego hitters have gotten the best of the pitcher.
The Padres are batting a combined .237 off Webb in his career with just a .283 OBP. The pitcher has only surrendered one homer to San Diego’s batters over his career.
If these pitchers throw how they’re capable, this game should stay under the 7.5 run total.
