Francis has been solid if unspectacular through his first three starts of the season. One thing he has done consistently is walk batters, issuing at least two walks in all three of his starts. While that’s a little out of character for him, there are no signs that Francis has found his groove yet, so the walks are likely to continue.

Even if the Rays don’t draw a ton of walks, they average over three per game, so they should be patient enough to take advantage of Francis struggling to find the strike zone.

That makes him a reliable pitcher; even in two starts when he’s completed seven full innings, Webb has allowed five hits or fewer.
