The Diamondbacks enter this matchup at 78-61 in third place in the NL West, while the Giants are 68-71 in fourth place in this division. 

Merrill Kelly gets the start for Arizona. He is a perfect 4-0 this season with a 4.30 ERA. He has struck out 33 batters in 46 innings while maintaining a WHIP of 1.28. 

Arizona has a good chance of winning every time Kelly takes the bump, considering his perfect record, which is why we are backing him for this NRFI. 

The Giants are going with Blake Snell, who is 2-3 with an ERA of 3.56. He has fanned 114 batters in 86 innings and has a 1.08 WHIP. Snell has been dominant over the past few seasons, and we trust him to keep runs off the board in this matchup. 

The Diamondbacks have been one of the best offensive teams in the league, but they are at a disadvantage in this particular matchup with Snell on the mound. Arizona is hitting .263 in 2024, which is the second-best team batting average in 2024.

The next NRFI we are taking is in the Tigers vs. Padres game. Detroit comes into this game at 70-69 in fourth place in the AL Central. San Diego is 79-61, only trailing the Dodgers in the NL West. 

The 2018 first-overall pick takes the mound for the Tigers in Casey Mize. He has struggled in 2024, but has the pitch ability to succeed in this league. Mize is 2-6 with an ERA of 4.25 and has struck out 62 batters in 84.2 innings. 

The Padres are going with Martin Perez, who is 4-5 with a 4.71 ERA. He has fanned 91 batters in 114.2 innings and has a 1.53 WHIP. Perez needs to limit the walks to cash this NRFI, and we think he will deliver. 

Detroit is hitting just .233 as a team in 2024, which is the fifth-worst in baseball. Matt Vierling leads the Tigers in batting average at .261, with 15 home runs and 50 RBIs. Outside of Vierling and Riley Green, Detroit’s offense has been non-existent. 

San Diego has had the complete opposite season on offense, as they hold the best team batting average in 2024 at .265. Luis Arraez is hitting .310, which leads the team. Manny Machado has also contributed at the plate, hitting .274 with 23 home runs and 84 RBIs. 

Even with the Padres' success on offense, we trust Kelly to dominate this matchup and keep runs off the scoreboard to cash this NRFI.
