Every getaway day in Major League Baseball is ideal for NRFI bets. Hitters are all about routine, and weekday games differ from normal routines. Position players are typically at the ballpark late the night before and then have to play during the day and then travel.
Pitchers have it slightly better as they usually leave the yard early for extra rest. This is one of the biggest reasons we tend to see lower-scoring games during the week. The Twins and Brewers were meant for an NRFI bet on Wednesday.
Kenta Maeda will take the mound for the Twins, and he will face Corbin Burnes of the Brewers. Burnes is the more legitimate wing, but when Maeda is on, he is a very strong pitcher like his counterpart.
Maeda has a 4.13 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP in 69.2 innings. Maeda’s best quality is how he can get swings and misses consistently. The pitcher has recorded 82 strikeouts in his time on the mound. If Maeda doesn’t make a mistake, he should have a seamless first inning.
The same goes for Burnes, who has been one of the strongest pitchers in baseball for the second consecutive season. He is 9-6 with a 3.43 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP. He has thrown 152 innings, which is very high, but he has great energy.
Burnes looks like the same pitcher in the sixth inning as he does in the first, which makes him tough to hit. The NRFI is slightly juiced at -138 on FanDuel Sportsbook, but this is a great price considering the two pitchers on the mound, combined with the lackluster offenses.

The Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres are relatively potent offenses. However, we’re going to play an NRFI in their matchup on Wednesday. The total in this game is set at eight runs, so bookmakers are expecting a lower-scoring game than usual for these two clubs.
Sandy Alcantara will pitch for the Marlins, and he is 6-10 with a 4.11 and a 1.18 WHIP. The numbers haven’t been perfect for Alcantara, but he seems to be dialing in on the mound. He has four quality starts in his past five games. These include appearances against the Dodgers, Phillies and Rays.
The Padres bats have definitely been heating up, but they’re still not at the level of some of these clubs. We expect Alcantara to hang tough in the first inning.
Seth Lugo will throw for the Padres and he is a fairly vanilla pitcher. He changes speeds and mixes eye level, but he isn’t a dominant pitcher. However, we just need him to get three outs in this spot, and we believe he can make this happen. He is coming off six scoreless innings against the Diamondbacks where he fanned nine batters.

The Colorado Rockies will face the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field on Wednesday. Tampa Bay has been hitting the baseball much better as of late, but bookmakers still listed the total at eight runs in this game. The wildcard in this matchup will be Austin Gomber. If he can get three outs against Tampa Bay, this NRFI should hit.
Gomber is a much better pitcher on the road than he is at home. He has a 3.59 ERA as a visitor compared to a 7.06 ERA at Coors Field in 2023. We’re going to trust him in this spot because the other three outs should be easy to get from Aaron Civale.
Civale has been as close to perfect as you can get in MLB this year. He has a 2.44 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP. Over 92.1 innings, he has allowed just 79 hits with five homers. Civale keeps the ball down in the zone which is critical for NRFI bets.
