Best YRFI Bets Today: Target This NL West Showdown
After backing the YRFI in their previous contest, we go back to well by fading the next pair of pitchers in the matchup between the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres. Before that happens, we turn our sights towards the battle between the Cleveland Guardians and Miami Marlins with Miami’s offense in a position to succeed against the Guardians Logan Allen. For more information about the YRFI market and what factors make them worth a wager, take a look at our breakdown of what are YRFI bets.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres - Brandon Pfaadt vs. Michael King (9:40 PM, EST)
Over 0.5 Run (+104) at FanDuel
With the Los Angeles Dodgers taking a firm command for first place in the NL West standings, it’s a battle for second place and a highly coveted wild card spot for the rest of the division. Both the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres are within a few games of each other, making this a hotly contested matchup with potential season long implications on the line. To make it even more exciting, both offenses are in a position to start the scoring early against two underwhelming pitchers.
Starting with the Padres, their offense has played as one of the best units in the league and have only managed to get even better since the arrival of current league leader in Total Hits Luis Arraez Jr. With Arraez and star slugger Fernando Tatis Jr leading the charge, the Padres offense currently ranks near the top of the board in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage.
An impressive feat, and one that is poised to continue to succeed in this matchup against the Diamondbacks struggling starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt. While he has managed to space out the damage as of late with a WHIP of 1.082, Pfaadt is still prone to getting rocked as he possesses an ERA of 4.32, 65 Hits Allowed, and 35 Earned Runs Against in 12 games played.
As for the Diamondbacks offense, they are certainly capable of keeping within scoring pace as they have been an equally impressive unit in their own right. The Diamondbacks enter the contest ranked above league average in the same previously mentioned offensive metrics and now face off against the Padres Michael King who has struggled to keep opposing batters off the base. King comes into the contest with an ERA of 3.82 and a WHIP of 1.233.

Cleveland Guardians vs. Miami Marlins - Logan Allen vs. Ryan Weathers (7:10 PM, EST)
Over 0.5 Run (+108) at FanDuel
It’s been a year to forget for the Miami Marlins as they have battled through adversity since the start of the season. Their defense witnessed multiple starting pitchers go down with an injury before the regular season got underway, failing to give their already lowly offense the support they need. Even before trading away Luis Arraez Jr, the Marlins offense ranks below league average in Team Total Hits, On Base Percentage, RBIs, and Runs Scored.
Fortunately for the Marlins, as well as the YRFI, they are now in a position to succeed against the Guardians’ Logan Allen. Allen has been one of the lone dull spots for a team who is currently in first place of the AL Central division standings, failing to produce at a high level as a starting pitcher. Allen comes into the contest with an ERA of 5.83, a WHIP of 1.551, 52 Total Strikeouts, 71 Hits Allowed, and 38 Earned Runs Against.
As for the Guardians, positive regression looms large for a team that ranks above league average in Runs Scored, RBIs, On Base Percentage, yet below average in Team Total Hits. They may very well get the opportunity to build some momentum in the contact department against Ryan Weathers who possesses an ERA of 3.41 and a WHIP of 1.121, and a Marlins defense that ranks bottom-3 in Defensive Efficiency.
