Inter Miami vs New York Red Bulls Predictions and Picks

It’s scrappy, it’s through narrow margins, but most importantly, it’s working for Inter Miami.

Once in a chaotic mess earlier in the year, manager Phil Neville and his men have turned things around with five wins and one draw in their last six matches.

And as Miami have rocketed up MLS’ Eastern Conference table, the New York Red Bulls have fallen with their growing list of draws and losses.

The Red Bulls have failed to close out games, and in recent weeks, they seem to have a tendency to regularly drop valuable points in crucial games.

We’ve seen it constantly this summer and we saw it on Tuesday after allowing an 88th-minute game-winner for the Columbus Crew in a 2-1 defeat.

With the home-field advantage, pick Miami for the win.

Bet on Miami to Win!

It really is worrisome to see what has happened to the Red Bulls.

After seeming to gradually pick up their pace near the beginning of the season, they’ve since plummeted near the midpoint as they’ve stumbled through a growing number of ties and losses.

They only have one win since July 8th — which was a close 1-0 result over the Crew in August.

Manager Gerhard Struber seems to have lost faith as well.

The bad news for Struber and his squad? They’re not only about to take on an in-form team, but also one of the top strikers in the league that is gaining some real confidence.

Gonzalo Higuain Is Finally Reaching His High Expectations

It took a bit of time, but Miami are now getting the version of Gonzalo Higuain that they have been praying for.

Perhaps needing some time to adjust, the Argentine has now stepped up with four goals and three assists in his last 10 appearances.

At home, he has been even more of a revelation and has provided at least one goal or assist in six consecutive matches at DRV PNK Stadium.

As long as Higuain is firing on all cylinders, Miami should be able to avoid numerous problems.

Red Bulls Are Dropping Points Left And Right

On Tuesday night, there was an interesting tweet from former ESPN statistician Paul Carr.

Carr noted that so far this MLS season, no team has dropped more points after taking a lead than the Red Bulls.

It’s not as if things are getting better in September either, it happened in their last two games.

In their 2-1 loss to the Crew on Tuesday, they had a 1-0 lead by halftime. Previously in the 1-1 draw with DC United, they had a 1-0 lead by the 5th minute.

The Red Bulls can’t close out games and are likely incredibly low right now in their morale.

A Shaky Start Has Developed Into An Intriguing End To The Season For Neville

Last week, there was a noticeable change in Neville’s demeanor after helping Miami secure a 1-0 win.

We’re showing all the qualities that people probably from outside the club didn’t think that this team had,” stated Miami’s manager. “And probably, two months ago, I and the players didn’t feel that as well. We probably didn’t know that we had these qualities inside us.

The attack has started to click, a key defender like Leandro Gonzalez has been resilient, and most notably, they’ve closed up and made it difficult for teams to score against them.

In their last five games, Miami has only allowed an eye-catching total of just one single goal.

Through a noticeably aggressive style of play, they’ve been able to grind out results, and although many of them have been close, it has been an impressive turnaround for Miami.
