LAFC vs Sporting Kansas City Predictions and Picks
On Wednesday, LAFC will host two-time MLS Cup winners Sporting Kansas City.
Even with home-field advantage, LAFC aren’t guaranteed three points or a draw in their mid-week match.
SKC have been able to collect several big victories over tough opposition this season, and regardless of their latest loss, they’ll have more support with the return of some key players.
Most importantly, when looking at their form, we can’t ignore that SKC have four wins in their last six.
And as for LAFC, they are now without a victory in their last three. Coupled with some questions for the defense from the home side, there’s now a good chance for the visitors to step in and claim a statement-making result.

Should there actually be some worries regarding SKC? They did in fact lose 2-1 at home against FC Dallas last week.
And yet, when you dive into the match, it’s easy to see that SKC had more possession and nearly double the amount of shots as Dallas.
After being caught off-guard by some incredible long-range chances from Dallas, SKC fought back and ultimately weren’t able to score until late into the 2nd half.
The argument could be made that SKC played well, and in the context of their four wins in their five previous matches, the loss might simply be a small speed bump this season.
Luckily for them, SKC will also have some key players stepping back into the mix.
Crucial Figures Will Be Returning To Kansas City
Following a busy summer that included time spent with their respective national teams at the 2021 Gold Cup, both Alan Pulido and Gianluca Busio are once again available for SKC.
With Pulido potentially gaining minutes — likely off the bench — SKC have a striker back that has scored six goals in 11 appearances this MLS season.
As for Busio, the young prodigy is an immediate asset to the midfield.
With an eye for good distribution and clever runs, the 19-year-old will bring even more authority to the middle of the pitch for SKC.
LAFC Have Looked Defensively Vulnerable
LAFC’s defensive numbers aren’t exactly trending in the right direction.
They’ve allowed six goals in their last three matches — two of which were at home.
What’s even more troublesome is that these performances in their last three matches have been against some erratic and inconsistent teams.
LAFC are still settling their roster and trying to build some momentum, as they’re attempting to do so, Kansas City will be marching in as one of the top current clubs in MLS.
Despite Latest Loss, Kansas City Are Heavy Hitters
Even after losing to Dallas, SKC have maintained a seven-point lead over LAFC in the Western Conference standings.
They only have one loss in their last six games, and at time of writing before the start of Wednesday’s games, only two teams have more points in MLS this season than SKC.
The good news is that with Pulido and Busio returning, they could be adding in even more goals to their impressive tally of 29 in just 16 matches.
