  • Austin Hill is the obvious choice here, based on his superspeedway record.
  • Friday’s race is Brandon Jones’ best chance to make the Xfinity Playoffs.
  • It’s impossible to ignore double-dipper Justin Haley at a superspeedway.

Wawa 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series Predictions

Wawa 250 Predictions

Austin Hill Is the Obvious Choice, Given His Superspeedway Record

How do you argue against Austin Hill’s chances in a NASCAR Xfinity Series race on a superspeedway? The oddsmakers certainly can’t.

At DraftKings Sportsbook, Hill is posted as a prohibitive favorite at +380, and there’s ample justification for that lofty status.

Four of Hill’s six career wins have come on tracks where NASCAR uses the superspeedway competition package, and two of those have come at Daytona, where the series races on Friday night.

Both of Hill’s Daytona wins have been season openers—this year and last—but he has never won the summer race at the World Center of Racing.

Given the random nature and unpredictability of close-quarters superspeedway races, we can’t go with Hill at the slim odds on the board. So we’ll look elsewhere.

This Is Brandon Jones’ Best Chance to Make the Xfinity Playoffs

After a move to JR Motorsports during the offseason, Brandon Jones has turned in an underwhelming performance.

Winless this season, Jones has just two top-five finishes in 23 starts. That’s a real come-down for a driver who won five times with Joe Gibbs Racing.

With three races left before the Xfinity Series Playoff field is set, Jones is 12th in the standings, 61 points below Riley Herbst in 10th—the last Playoff-eligible position.

A victory at Daytona, however, would give Jones an automatic spot in the Playoffs, and he’ll certainly be trying on Friday night.

Though we don’t think Jones will win the race, we do believe he’ll beat Daniel Hemric head-to-head at -105 via DraftKings.

Justin Haley Is Our Pick to Win at Daytona—at Very Favorable Odds

Have the oddsmakers overlooked Justin Haley’s superspeedway record? Based on the offerings from DraftKings, it would certainly seem so.

In nine starts at Daytona International Speedway, Haley has two victories, three top fives, and five top 10s. He won the Wawa 250 in 2020 and 2021.

All four of Haley’s Xfinity Series victories have come on superspeedways—two at Daytona and two at Talladega.

Admittedly, picking a race at Daytona is a crapshoot, but given the choice between Austin Hill at +380 and Haley at +1100 via DraftKings, we’ll go with the significantly better odds.
