Who Are First-Time NBA All-Stars in 2024?

The Eastern Conference has three first-time All-Stars: Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero, New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson, and Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey.

The Western Conference has no first-time All-Stars.

Who Was Snubbed From the 2024 NBA All-Star Team?

The NBA All-Star game only has so many roster spots, and there are many talented players across the NBA. While all selected deserve the title All-Star in 2024, some who weren't chosen stand out as snubs from the game.

De’Aaron Fox - 6-3, 185lb (190cm, 83kg) - Sacramento Kings

SAC27-19 (5th in East)4035.627.24.15.51.60.49.6/.4673.0/.380

De’Aaron Fox was an All-Star last season, so many expected him to be named to the team again in 2024. Instead, Fox sits out of the All-Star Game in Indiana, along with the rest of his Kings teammates, despite leading his team to a top-five seed and improving in almost every major individual category this season. Calling Fox’s exclusion from the 2024 NBA All-Star Game a shock would be an understatement.

Domantas Sabonis - 6-10, 240lb (208cm, 108kg) - Sacramento Kings

TeamRecordGamesMPGPPGRPGAPGSPGBPGFGM / FG%3PM/3P%
SAC27-19 (5th in East)4635.419.913.08.00.80.58.0/.6160.5/.451

The Sacramento Kings were hoping to get at least one All-Star, given they’re ranked fifth in the Western Conference, but the exclusion of Domantas Sabonis has Kings fans up in arms. While he may not be as flashy as selected Western Conference frontcourt members, Sabonis leads the league in rebounds while being second to only Nikola Jokic in triple-doubles this season. Sabonis’ seemed to exceed the standard for All-Star performance this season.

Trae Young - 6-1, 164lb (185cm, 74kg - Atlanta Hawks

TeamRecordGamesMPGPPGRPGAPGSPGBPGFGM / FG%3PM/3P%
ATL20-27 (10th in East)4236.327.02.910.91.40.28.4/.4233.3/.368

Trae Young misses the NBA All-Star Game for a second consecutive season. One of the NBA’s top scorers and playmakers, Young’s omission from the Eastern Conference All-Star team seems to stem from his lack of team success. Individually brilliant and consistent, Young’s omission is problematic for fans to accept.

2024 NBA All-Star Game Snubs - Honorable Mentions

The following players have had excellent seasons and deserve to be mentioned among the snubs for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game. In no particular order:

  • Lauri Markkanen - Utah Jazz

  • Derrick White - Boston Celtics

  • Rudy Gobert - Minnesota Timberwolves

  • Scottie Barnes - Toronto Raptors

  • Alperen Sengun - Houston Rockets

  • Myles Turner - Indiana Pacers
