How can the Celtics beat the Warriors?
The Boston Celtics fell victim to the Golden State Warriors’ game plan in Game 4. They were unable to control the pace of play, and thus their offence grew less efficient as the game wore on. If they hope to regain the lead in the series, they must reignite their efficient half-court offence.
The Celtics were rather selective and solid through the first half against the Warriors. They shot 46.2% from the field through the first half while converting on 8 of 14 three-point field goals. However in the second half they struggled, shooting just 34.8% from the field and 29.2% from three-point range.
Many of their struggles stemmed from Jayson Tatum’s inefficiency as a playmaker, but they must find a solution as a team. If they can control the pace of play while maintaining their offensive efficiency, their defence can take care of itself.

It seems that as Jayson Tatum goes, so do the Boston Celtics. While they were able to compete for most of the game, Tatum’s struggles were ultimately the reason why Boston were unable to take Game 4 from the Golden State Warriors.
Tatum is coming off of a performance where he posted 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. Despite the still-impressive numbers, he shot a paltry 8 for 23 from the field while also turning the ball over 6 times.
The Celtics need Tatum to not only be efficient shooting the ball, but also with his playmaking. As the player that draws the most attention from the Warriors defence, Tatum needs to be productive and efficient.
How can the Warriors beat the Celtics?
The Boston Celtics’ defence has given the Golden State Warriors trouble throughout the series. While Stephen Curry has been fantastic, it is the Warriors role players that need to make the difference to take down the Boston Celtics.
Of the Warrior’s starting line-up, Stephen Curry accounted for 14 of their 29 made field goals. Their issue lies in the fact that the rest of the Warriors starting five shot a combined 15 of 43 from the field.
The responsibility to produce can’t fall to just Stephen Curry, but Klay Thompson and Draymond Green must show that they can support the Warriors in their pursuit of victory. Intangibles are nice, but if Curry gets bogged down there is nowhere for them to turn.

What more can be said about Stephen Curry? The eventual hall of famer was brilliant in Game 4 and almost single-handedly brought his Warriors back into contention for the NBA title. If he can maintain his shooting, Golden State can compete in any game.
In Curry’s Game 4 win over the Celtics, he posted 43 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists in 40 minutes of play. He shot 14 of 26 from the field and 7 of 14 from the field, posting a team high 36.3% usage rating in Game 4.
Curry is at his most effective when his team is moving the ball and can find opportunities when he is moving off the ball. If he is able to find his range early, as he shot just 25% from deep in the first half of Game 4, Golden State’s offence can get off to a great start.
