How can the Bulls beat the Bucks?

The Chicago Bulls have a lot to improve on when they take on the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 2. Chicago struggled to create good shot opportunities, despite their workmanlike effort on the glass.

In Game 1 against the Bucks, Chicago shot just 32.3% from the field and 18.9% from three-point range. Their struggles on offence came from their lack of playmaking, assisting on just 17 of their 31 field goals.

Against the intensity of the Bucks defence, the Bulls need to be able to create more efficient shot opportunities. Already one of the worst passing teams in the NBA, 19th with an average of 13.9 per game, the Bulls need to be more efficient with their opportunities.

Bulls Key Player: (G-F) DeMar DeRozan

The Chicago Bulls came close to victory in their first game, but you couldn’t help but think they would’ve earned a victory if DeRozan was on point. After a disappointing Game 1, DeRozan will look to bounce back in Game 2.

DeRozan is coming off of a Game 1 where he posted 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals in 42 minutes of play. He struggled from the field though, converting on just 6 of his 25 shot attempts.

Don’t be surprised to see DeRozan get off to an aggressive start in Game 2. He’s unlikely to shoot so poorly for two games in a row, but the Bulls can take comfort in the fact that DeRozan is a big contributor in other major stat categories regardless.

How can the Bucks beat the Bulls?

The Milwaukee Bucks showed their championship quality in Game 1 against the Chicago Bulls. Despite struggling with their usual game plan, the Bucks were able to focus on other areas to help themselves to victory.

Despite ranking 5th in the NBA in three-point field goal percentage (36.6%) and 4th in three-point field goals per game (14.1), the Bucks were just 10 of 38 from three-point range on the night. If not for their size and willingness to attack the basket, Milwaukee could’ve easily lost the game.

The Bulls can struggle on the defensive side of the ball, mostly due to their lack of rim protection. If the Bucks can establish themselves inside early, it’ll only create even more opportunities for them from three.

Bucks Key Player: (F) Giannis Antetokounmpo

The reigning NBA Finals MVP opened his first playoff game of the season with a bang. While some of his teammates struggled, Antetokounmpo showed the quality to carry his team to the finish line.

In Game 1, Antetokounmpo posted 27 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks in 33 minutes of play. He was efficient from the field, converting on 10 of 19 field goal attempts, but struggled to take care of the ball as he committed 5 turnovers.

The Greek Freak helped lead the way for the Bucks in the first half of Game 1, scoring 17 of his 27 on the night. If he can get out to another strong start, the Bucks will have one less player to worry about producing as the game wears on.
