Germany and the United States enter this match to achieve their best finish in years. Germany last went to the semi-finals in 2002, behind the efforts of NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki. The United States has almost completed its redemption arc, reaching the semi-final for the first time since 2014!

Both the United States and Germany have been excellent through this tournament. The Americans are the obvious favorite, and for good reason. Despite Germany's talent and shooting prowess, the two-way product of the United States will be too much to handle.

The United States has been dominant as ever through this tournament, save for a surprise loss to Lithuania in the second round. They enter this match against Germany after a dominant showing in their previous showing, ready to challenge the tournament's last undefeated team.
Their last match was a 37-point win over Italy. The United States could hold their opponents to 30.7% shooting from the field and a paltry 18.4% from three-point range. They could also shoot 53.7% from the floor while hitting 17 threes on 47.2% efficiency.
Italy wasn't a solid three-point shooting team, but the American defense speaks for itself. They'll need to maintain their pace and lock up their opponents on defense to take down Germany.
The United States is, unsurprisingly, the top-scoring team in the tournament. They average 101.2 points per game on 53.1% from the field and 39.2% from three-point range. Their pace was only second to Australia, who were significantly less efficient than them.
Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton lead the American offense. Edwards has averaged 17.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists on 45.9% from the field. Haliburton has been their primary playmaker, averaging 9.3 points and 5.0 assists while hitting 2.3 threes per game on 56.0% efficiency.
The bulk of the United States' production comes from their perimeter players. Against a switch-ready and athletic German perimeter defense, they'll need to find contributions from their big men. The United States can't rely on simply pushing the break.
Germany is the last undefeated team in the tournament, and their position is well-earned. The Germans are battle-tested going into this match with wins over impressive squads like Australia, Finland, and Latvia.
In their previous match, Germany survived one of the tournament's most electric offenses in Latvia. They held the Latvian sharpshooters to just 79 points on 44.6% shooting from the field while winning the rebounding battle by seven.
Germany will face their most challenging task in this semi-final against the United States. They will need to keep pace with the Americans on defense and maintain their efficiency against a tough perimeter squad.
Germany has been excellent through the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Not only are they one of the top-scoring teams with 91.3 per game on 52.2% efficiency, but they take care of the ball by committing just 10.2 turnovers per game while collecting 9.2 steals per contest.
Point guard Dennis Schroder has been their top performer, posting 18.0 points, 6.3 assists, and 1.3 steals on 40.4% from the field. Between Schroder, Obst, and Lo, Germany has three players that hit two or more threes per game on average.
Germany will hope that star man Dennis Schroder can bounce back from what was a game to forget, as he shot just 4 of 26 in 30 minutes of play in his previous match. Germany will struggle to keep pace with the Americans on offense without his offensive production.
