The Hornets continue to impress through this early season, but the one-way traffic of their play causes issues for them. The Warriors are still waiting to get fully healthy, but they’re well-drilled and still own one of the league’s best defenses.

The Hornets are coming off of a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. While it was a narrow loss, Charlotte was unable to dig themselves out of an early hole.
In their last game, the Hornets lost the first quarter by a shocking 40 to 21. While they won every subsequent quarter, it wasn’t enough to bring themselves to a victory.
Charlotte had a lot of trouble with Cleveland’s size, but they won’t have that issue against Golden State. Instead, they’ll face continuous ball movement and rotation by a skilled Warriors squad. Charlotte need to score early, but setting a strong defensive tone off the tip is just as important.

Much like Stephen Curry for the Warriors, all things on the Hornets go through LaMelo Ball. The reigning Rookie of the Year has taken quite a leap this season, and going up against the Warriors will be a great test.
Ball is coming off of a game where he posted 30 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals on 54.5% shooting from the field. He can truly do anything on the basketball court, but he couldn’t carry the Hornets to a victory.
Getting his teammates better involved will be key. Despite his inexperience, Ball has the weight of some of the more established stars in the NBA. If he can capitalize on his influence and create better opportunities for others, the Hornets steal a victory.
The Golden State Warriors are already known as a pass-first team. While they have one of NBA history’s best-ever scorers in Stephen Curry, they work best when they are keeping everyone involved.
In their last game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Warriors were dominant with their ball movement. On 39 made field goals, the Warriors had 30 assists. Unsurprisingly, Green and Curry led Golden State’s playmaking efforts.
The Hornets will play with pace, but they’re not very responsible on the defensive side of the ball. If Golden State wants to put away the Hornets, they’ll target them in the halfcourt.

Stephen Curry may be the star of the Golden State Warriors, but Draymond Green is the cog that makes the entire Warriors operation tick. Coming off of an excellent game, Green will be key against the athletic Hornets.
Green is coming off of a game where he contributed 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists in just 25 minutes of play. It was a blowout for Golden State, who demolished their competition.
The Hornets aren’t a well-drilled team on the defensive side of the ball, but they are incredibly athletic. Green’s playmaking will be crucial to a Warriors victory, as it will help overcome the pace of the Hornets.
