The New York Knicks take on a renewed Brooklyn Nets team. While Brooklyn have been in a good run of form as of late, New York's relentlessness at the rim should give them the edge against a game Nets team.

The New York Knicks have been quite inconsistent to open this season. Sure, the Knicks had a three-game win streak to close out October. But they followed that up with a four-game losing streak entering November. In their last game, the Knicks finally put together their inside-out attack.
In their win against the Timberwolves last time out, the New York Knicks shot 43.8% from the field and 39.6% from three-point range. They also outrebounded the Timberwolves 43 to 39 and limited the Timberwolves to just 4 offensive rebounds.
Usually a below-average three-point shooting team, the Knicks were 19 of 48 from deep in their last game. Led by Julius Randle's 8 three-pointers, the Knicks' offence was humming. If they can maintain their inside-outside threat, they can take down the Brooklyn Nets.
In his last game, a win over the Timberwolves, Julius Randle looked like he was back in peak form. With his shot going, Randle and the Knicks were almost unstoppable on the offensive end. However, it wouldn't hurt Randle to diversify his offensive efficiency.
Randle ended up shooting 9 of 15 in his match against the Timberwolves, also going 8 for 13 from three-point range. The Nets are strong paint defenders, but their three-point defence surely leaves much to be desired.
If Randle can maintain his hot shooting, that's great. But he can't expect the Nets won't see his shooting coming. If Randle can find success at the rim and pass the ball with efficiency, the Nets will have a difficult time holding him down.
Since the Brooklyn Nets' suspension of Kyrie Irving, the Brooklyn Nets seemed to come together as a unit. They rallied off back-to-back wins but fell in their most recent match with the Dallas Mavericks. Brooklyn's defence has been much more engaged as of late, something they'll need against the rim-running Knicks.
Over their last three games, where they are 2-1, the Brooklyn Nets are allowing their opponents to shoot just 39% from the field and 32.7% from three-point range. They're also forcing 16.7 turnovers per game while committing just 10.3 of their own.
The Knicks aren't one of the league's more intimidating offensive teams in terms of efficiency, but they are relentless in the paint and willing to find second chances on the glass. If the Nets can keep up on the glass on top of maintaining their recent defensive form, they should be able to take down their state rivals.
Since the suspension of Kyrie Irving, Nets interim head coach Jacque Vaughan has increased three-point marksman Joe Harris' minutes. He hasn't been very productive this season, but his last game was promising for his outlook. Against the Knicks, Harris will need to keep the defence honest with his shooting.
In Brooklyn's two-point loss to the Dallas Mavericks, Harris was solid in his second game playing 30 minutes or more. The Nets veteran posted 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in 33 minutes of play. He was 6 of 10 from the field and 2 of 5 from the three-point range.
The Knicks are one of the league's better teams defending the three-point line, allowing just 34.5% shooting from deep. However, with their main rim protector unavailable, Harris' shooting ability should open up a wealth of opportunities for his teammates.
