How can the Mavericks beat the Suns?
It isn’t confirmed, but Luka Doncic’s health is up in the air due to him leaving Dallas’ last game with an ankle injury. He will be re-evaluated, but the Mavericks must tap into their bench if they want to take down the Suns.
In their last game, a win over the Nuggets, the Mavericks relied on their starters to drive the offence – with a bit of help from Jalen Brunson off the bench. However, the trio of Doncic, Porzingis, and Hardaway combined for 71 of the team’s 111 points.
Whether or not Doncic is out, the Mavericks need to threaten the Suns from every position on the court. If they rely on just one player to create everything on the night, it’ll be another win for the Suns.
Mavericks Key Player: (F-C) Kristaps Porzingis

You never want to get too excited about a player after they return from injury, but Porzingis has been making Mavericks fans thrilled after his last couple of performances.
In his last game, a win over the Denver Nuggets, Porzingis posted 29 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block on 11 of 20 shooting from the field.
With Luka Doncic’s availability up in the air, the Mavericks’ success will rest on Kristaps Porzingis’ ability to lead the team. He’s not unfamiliar with the role, it’s just been a long time since he’s been called to it.
How can the Suns beat the Mavericks?
The Phoenix Suns are already a tough defensive unit, but the Dallas Mavericks have a couple of pieces that don’t have a perfect matchup for Phoenix to key in on.
The Mavericks predicate their offence on their ability to move the ball, and get open shots from three-point range.
By limiting second-chance opportunities and closing out on the three-point line, only Doncic has the consistent in-between game that can make up for their shortcomings. Phoenix, would be in a great spot to win.
Suns Key Player: (C) Deandre Ayton
good ol’ pick & roll @CP3 ➡️ @DeandreAyton pic.twitter.com/4fNcvuBW8m
— Phoenix Suns (@Suns) November 16, 2021
While the Phoenix Suns caused some drama over Ayton’s contract extension, it certainly hasn’t affected his play in any significant way. A classic pick-and-roll center, Ayton is the anchor for Phoenix’s gameplan.
In his last game, a win over the Timberwolves, Ayton was excellent. He posted 22 points and 12 rebounds on 10 of 14 shooting from the field.
He struggled to contain Karl-Anthony Towns in his last game and will match up with another stretch big in Kristaps Porzingis. His defensive contributions will be as valuable as what he does on the offensive end.
