Brooklyn Nets vs New York Knicks Predictions and Pick

The New York Knicks have been able to score the ball, but their defence has ultimately failed them in recent matches. Off the back of a solid defensive outing, the Nets should take a victory in their rival’s arena.

How Can the Nets Beat the Knicks?

The Brooklyn Nets got off to a great start in their last game against the Sacramento Kings. If they want to take a win over the Knicks, they’ll need to continue to find good scoring opportunities.

In Brooklyn’s last game, the Nets shot 51.2% from the field, but just 34.6% from three-point range. Despite their struggles from deep, they’ve been able to convert on good opportunities in the paint.

With their star pair of Durant and Irving out, it is difficult for the Nets to find the same opportunities from deep. It isn’t as if the Nets didn’t have opportunities from three, they just need to improve on their efficiency.

Nets Key Player: (G) Seth Curry

The Brooklyn Nets may have just acquired Seth Curry, but he entered the lineup and showed how impactful he can be. More than just a three-point shooter, Curry will lead the Nets offence until Brooklyn’s stars return.

In his first game with the Nets, Curry posted 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Curry seemed to fit into the offence well, converting on 10 of 18 from the field and being a plus-14 on the night.

Curry will be relied upon to make shots for the Nets when they face the Knicks. On his current form, the Nets will hope the attention he draws can create opportunities for others.

How Can the Knicks Beat the Nets?

The New York Knicks are coming off of a loss in their last game where they fought tooth and nail, but eventually lost the game. To beat the Nets, the Knicks need to show more resistance on the defensive side of the ball.

In their last game, a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Knicks allowed their opponents to shoot 50% from the field while forcing just 11 turnovers.

Brooklyn are a team that can struggle to find their offence if they can’t set the pace early. For New York to steal a win, they must come out of the gate ready to slow down the Nets’ scorers.

Knicks Key Player: (F) Julius Randle

Knicks big man Julius Randle will want to build off of a spectacular performance in his last game. He’ll need to give it his all, as his teammates have struggled to support him.

In his last game, a loss to the Thunder, Julius Randle posted 30 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists on 11 of 26 shooting from the field. His production was excellent, but 7 turnovers and fouling out of the game are signals for improvement.

Randle will have his hands full on both ends trying to manage Nets big men Andre Drummond and LaMarcus Aldridge. If Randle can find his offence early, the Knicks have a great chance at victory.
