Neither the Milwaukee Bucks nor the Toronto Raptors have gotten off to their preferred start this season. Almost inverse products, the Bucks’ offense has been their calling card while their defense has struggled, and the Raptors offense has been underwhelming while their defense is one of the best in the league. Milwaukee looks primed to even their regular season series after a Raptors win in their earlier meeting with the Bucks this season.
After dropping back-to-back games, the Milwaukee Bucks won their last game over the Chicago Bulls. They boast one of the NBA’s top offenses, scoring 116.0 points per game (7th) on 47.8% from the field (9th) while hitting 13.2 threes per game (10th). Giannis Antetokounmpo has led the way for them, averaging 29.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game on 58.2% shooting from the floor.
The Toronto Raptors are also coming off an impressive victory, where they overcame a 20-point deficit to defeat the Washington Wizards in their last match. A defensive squad, the Raptors hold teams to 109.2 points per game (7th) on 45.8% shooting from the field (11th) and 33.7% shooting from three (8th). Scottie Barnes leads the Raptors with 20.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.8 blocks and steals per game.
The Bucks have Jae Crowder listed as day-to-day with a groin injury, as he didn’t play Monday’s match against Chicago. The Raptors have more dire injury issues, missing All-Defense member OG Anunoby and bench scorer Gary Trent Jr. in their last match.
Both teams look capable, but injury issues to the Raptors' usually stout perimeter defense will give Milwaukee an edge in this matchup.

Damian Lillard is still learning to fit in with his new team, but that hasn’t stopped him from producing on the scoring side of the ball. In eight games, he’s averaged 22.8 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game on 37.0% from the field and 26.9% from three. Lillard has made up for what he’s lacked in efficiency with volume and trips to the free-throw line.
In his last game against the Toronto Raptors this season, Lillard posted 15 points, 6 assists, and 2 turnovers on just 44.4% from the field and 25.0% from three. He was severely limited, as the Raptors employed defensive ace OG Anunoby to slow him down. With Anunoby unlikely to play in this match, Lillard is expected to have full reign on the court and over the Raptors on offense.

Scottie Barnes is having his best season as a professional. Given the keys to the Raptors offense, Barnes is averaging 20.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.8 blocks and steals per game. He’s even improved his shooting efficiency, hitting a career-high 1.8 threes per game on 34.0% from deep. He’ll need to take on more responsibility when he faces the Bucks on Wednesday, with some key players unavailable.
In the Raptors’ 19-point victory over the Bucks to open the month, Barnes posted 21 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 made threes on 50.0% from the field and 66.7% from three. With fewer shooters available due to injury, Barnes will need to create more opportunities for Toronto - fortunately, their increased pace has been conducive to his playmaking.
