The San Antonio Spurs are on a positive run of form, winning their last 3 games and winning 8 of their last 10. However, the scoring pace and size of the Timberwolves should give San Antonio a lot of trouble.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are sure to cause issues for the San Antonio Spurs, mostly due to their incredible pace and shooting ability. If the Spurs hope to take down the Timberwolves, they’ll need to defend well and do the dirty work.
The Timberwolves are dangerous on the offensive end, but they’ve shown weakness when they struggle to compete on the glass and are limited in their ball movement. In losses, the Timberwolves are outrebounded by a margin of 5.6 while assisting on just 23.4 of their 39.0 field goals.
With a paint-protecting big man like Jakob Poeltl patrolling the paint, the Spurs have earned their way to being the 7th best rebounding team in the NBA. Battling on the glass shouldn’t be an issue for San Antonio, but slowing Minnesota’s pace will be priority number one for the Spurs.
Keldon Johnson is growing by leaps and bounds. He was the steal of the 2019 draft. He’s gonna be a very special player that Spurs fans will remember for a very long time! pic.twitter.com/lc5P1t2b3d

The San Antonio Spurs are known for their development of young players, but third-year forward Keldon Johnson seems to have taken a massive step this season and is looking like a star in the making! In his last game, Johnson put in another excellent performance.
When it comes to Johnson, he has shown a steadiness beyond his years. In his last game, a win over the Denver Nuggets, he posted 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists in 33 minutes of play. While he was just 2 of 7 from three-point range, he made up for it with his finishing inside.
A rugged defender, Johnson should improve on his foul rate as he committed 5 in his last game. He’ll be key in slowing down Minnesota’s trigger-happy wing players.
The Minnesota Timberwolves can’t let San Antonio’s record fool them. While the Timberwolves have had the upper hand throughout the regular season, San Antonio’s gritty defense has proven to be a nuisance to even the most capable scoring teams.
The San Antonio Spurs are coming off of a victory against the Denver Nuggets, where they held their opponents to just 21.2% shooting from three-point range. The Spurs also held their opponents to their third-lowest assist total in a single game this season.
First in the NBA in three-point field goals per game, the Timberwolves like to establish a fast pace that allows them to attempt as many threes as possible. If they hope to beat the Spurs, Minnesota needs to be able to find quality three-point attempts.
D’Angelo Russell makes the backdoor DIME look too easy ?pic.twitter.com/K4slAgMjfu

While D’Angelo Russell hasn’t blossomed into the NBA superstar that many predicted for him, he has certainly proven to be a very talented point guard. Against the Spurs, Minnesota will need Russell to be productive.
In his last game, a loss to the Washington Wizards, Russell posted 17 points and 11 assists on 7 of 14 shooting from the field. His playmaking was excellent, committing just 2 turnovers to his 11 assists.
The Spurs run a very switchable defense, with long and athletic wing defenders at every position. How Russell creates from the point of attack will be key to their success, as well as his ability to push the break.
