How can the Sixers beat the Hawks?

The Sixers struggled to score in their last game out, mostly due to their opponents’ swarming paint defence. To take down the Hawks, Philly needs to move the ball for better opportunities.

In their first game with the Hawks this season, the Sixers shot just 31.6% from three. Despite their poor shooting percentage, they were fine as the sheer volume of their attempts earned them 12 three-point field goals.

Philadelphia will want to be more efficient when finding their three-point shots this time out, as they’re trying to bounce back from a poor game against the Celtics. Getting Joel Embiid going in the paint should open up their shooting game.

Sixers Key Player: (C) Joel Embiid

The Philadelphia 76ers are coming off of a disappointing loss to the Boston Celtics. Joel Embiid was dreadful from the floor, despite putting in work from other positions.

In his last game, Embiid posted 13 points, 18 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals on 3 of 17 shooting from the field. He won’t get a break when he matches up against Clint Capela of the Hawks.

Embiid can’t afford to be reserved when he comes up against the Hawks. The Sixers will struggle to win if their talisman shoots poorly from the field.

How can the Hawks beat the Sixers?

The Hawks certainly haven’t forgotten about their early-season loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Considering it was a 28-point loss, the Hawks will be searching for revenge.

When Atlanta takes on Philadelphia they’ll need to shore up their interior defence. In their last meeting the Hawks were able to limit Philly’s outside shooting, but they allowed the Sixers to shoot 53.5% from the field.

All eyes will be on Clint Capela and John Collins, Atlanta’s frontcourt duo. The pair weren’t able to slow down the Sixers’ paint attack last time out, so a better performance will be needed this time.

Hawks Key Player: (G) Trae Young

The other All-Star in this prime time matchup, Trae Young is coming off of a brilliant game. A scoring ace and a tricky playmaker, Young could give the Sixers headaches.

In his last game, a win against the Pacers, Young posted 33 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds. Having scorer who is just as talented when it comes to playmaking is a massive threat.

When Young matches up with the Sixers, he’ll need to navigate Philadelphia’s energetic defence. If Young can find his scoring touch early, they could run away with the game.
