The Toronto Raptors continue to struggle in the paint and the Milwaukee Bucks don’t look like they’ll give them any reprieve. The Raptors played this match well last time out, but eventually collapsed late. We expect the same in this match, especially as they’ll be missing key defender OG Anunoby.

It is no secret that the Toronto Raptors have been struggling on the glass. They’ve lost their last two games and many of their issues come from their lack of production in the middle.
It isn’t that the Raptors don’t fight on the boards, but their lack of size continues to harm their chances. Toronto are dead last in the NBA in rebounds per game at 42.0 per contest.
They’ll have to find a way to make up the difference against a Milwaukee Bucks side that is just as fast as them, but also have the advantage at the rim. Toronto started strong shooting the ball in their last matchup, but have to find a way to contain Milwaukee on the glass to win.
The Toronto Raptors’ lack of size is a benefit to Milwaukee, but they can’t afford to take their eye off of their opponent’s depth in the shooting.
The Raptors are third overall in three-pointers made per game and fifth overall in three-point percentage per game. Milwaukee meanwhile, is 26th in three-pointers allowed and 21st in three-point percentage allowed. All signs point to Milwaukee needing to focus on the perimeter.
Rotation on defense is crucial for Milwaukee and it starts at the point of attack. Jrue Holiday may make his return to the lineup to help with perimeter defending, but all eyes are on Brook Lopez. Lopez was pulled early against the Thunder to make up for defensive recovery, and we could see the same if he can’t keep up with the Raptors in this matchup.

Summer signing Aron Baynes has been dreadful for the Toronto Raptors this season. Yet against a Milwaukee Bucks team that loves to attack the interior, Toronto needs a good game from him to be competitive.
In his last game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Baynes had six points and five rebounds while also fouling out in 23 minutes of play. Managing Karl-Anthony Towns was too much for him, but he may have a more desirable matchup against the Bucks.
Brook Lopez is played in a similar fashion to Baynes, a slow-footed center that stretches the court for rim-attackers. If Baynes can stand his ground in the paint as a rotational defender, while also hitting some open shots, he can make a huge difference for the undermanned Raptors.

Well of course the reigning two-time NBA MVP would be a key player in this matchup. But it’s what the Raptors are lacking that makes Antetokounmpo’s production so much more important in this game.
Not only are the Raptors undermanned at the center position, but they are likely to be missing two key pieces in OG Anunoby and Yuta Watanabe – both key defensive pieces on the perimeter.
Without a strong matchup against him, Antetokounmpo should thrive. He had an efficient 24 points, 18 rebounds, and nine assists last time out against the Raptors. Expect another massive night from him.
