Monday Night Football Prop Bets: Best MNF Player Props Week 9

Week nine in the NFL closes out with the Los Angeles Chargers traveling to New York to face off against the Jets on Monday Night Football. This will be the first matchup between the two squads since November 2020, when the Chargers bested the Jets 28-34.

Los Angeles quarterback Justin Herbert and receiver Keenan Allen have been the lone survivors of this injury-ridden offense all season. Having lost Mike Williams and Joshua Palmer, the Chargers are trying to pick up the pieces and keep their postseason hopes alive.

Meanwhile, it has been a similar season for the Jets in the injury department. Losing Aaron Rodgers for the season has been one of the biggest stories in the NFL.

Rodgers may have a chance of returning before the end of the season, but right now, the keys belong to Zach Wilson. With all of the injuries to both teams, this still will be a highly contested matchup, so we’re attacking this game with prop wagers.

NFL MNF Prop Bets Week 9

Austin Ekeler Over 47.5 Rushing Yards (-114) on FanDuel SportsBook

When healthy, Austin Ekeler is one of the most electrifying backs in the game. Unfortunately, he’s been hurt a lot this season, and we are only through eight weeks. He was injured towards the end of week one and missed the next three games heading to their week five bye.

Since returning from his injury, he has been a more significant threat in the passing game. This could be the week he turns it around, going up against the 30th-ranked rushing defense. The Jets give up 144.9 yards on the ground per game.

The Chargers should be able to go up early despite the injuries and use running backs Joshua Kelley and Ekeler to wind the clock down and grab a win on the road.

Chargers Over 21.5 Team Points (-104) on FanDuel Sportsbook

The Chargers have one of the better offenses in the league, averaging 24.9 points per game. Los Angeles has hit their team total over in five of their seven games so far this season.

New York gives up 18.8 points per game. While they have done an excellent job keeping teams in check, they’ve shown weaknesses against teams with quality running backs. When the running game for the opposing team starts cooking, the Jets fall apart.

We fully expect the Chargers to put up points quickly. Given their frustration with the tough schedule, it will be a get-right game for Los Angeles.

Zach Wilson Over 214.5 Passing Yards (-110) on FanDuel Sportsbook

Zach Wilson has been a very inconsistent quarterback for most of his career. Wilson has an opportunity in this matchup to make some noise against one of the worst pass defenses in the game.

This Chargers team has one weakness that overpowers all of their other imperfections, and that is their pass defense. Los Angeles defense gives up over 297 pass yards per game. This is a problem that the team has been trying to address for the last few years, and there has yet to be a solution in sight.

Wilson has averaged just under 200 yards per game this season. He’s only played against two teams with similar passing defenses, and he blew his over out of the water. We expect New York to be down and have to throw, so Wilson should be able to pick up some second-half yardage, helping him exceed this over.

Additionally, the Chargers are stout against the run. If they eliminate the run, it will force Wilson to throw the ball.
