Get excited for these two AFC powerhouses meeting up during the NFL’s Week 7 Sunday Night Football broadcast as the struggling Pittsburgh Steelers take on the .500 Miami Dolphins after both teams have had to improvise under center due to injuries, two teams hoping to win here and rise in their divisions.
In 4 of their last 5 games, the Pittsburgh Steelers have failed to cover the spread and with all the injuries and roster confusion they are suffering now it seems highly unlikely that they will be able to cover it in Miami where the home team has cleverly constructed their stadium in such a way that the visiting team must endure the Florida heat during the game while the Phins are shaded.
Check back at game time to see who will be quarterbacking this game since the Steelers are juggling between the inconsistent Mitchell Trubisky and the concussed rookie Kenny Pickett, neither of which has instilled confidence in that 29th-ranked offense, and also check on the Dolphins’ QB Tua Tagovailoa who should get the start after suffering head and neck injuries.
Four of Pittsburgh’s last five games as underdogs have gone under the total points line and the way their offense has been playing it seems likely that they will achieve the under here once again, that team ranked 30th in scoring after averaging 16.2 points per game, the Dolphins posting 21.8, that total of 38 still well under.
For this wager, it is also key to look at how these defenses have been faring against the teams they have played, and Pittsburgh’s has allowed opponents to score 24.3 points per game while Miami’s defense has allowed the teams it plays to average 25.8 points per game for a total of 50.1 which is well over what the oddsmakers are expecting at 45, something to keep in mind.
We like the under for this bet given all the injuries that each of these teams is dealing with in Week 7 – the Steelers are still missing T.J. Watt (knee) for the season plus they have a dozen players listed questionable to play, and the Dolphins have 11 players who will be a coach’s game-time decision including WR Jaylen Waddle (shoulder) and LB Jerome Baker (hip).

Sure, the Miami Dolphins are on a three-game losing streak, but it is important to remember that they have won eight of their last nine games at home in Hard Rock Stadium where the hot Florida sun works to their advantage as it shines down upon just the visitor’s side of the field, not to mention all the local fans there who know just when to make noise.
Miami is better than Pittsburgh on both sides of the ball – Dolphins' offense is ranked 8th and their defense is ranked 24th whereas the Steelers' offense and defense are both ranked 29th – so expect better production from Miami and the outright win here, though it will cost you a $335 bet to win back $100 and your wager, perhaps too steep a risk for anyone but diehard Miami fans.
For the Steelers’ faithful, the money line bet will cost you $100 to win $260 plus your wager if the injury-riddled Pittsburgh roster does manage to find an outright win on Sunday night, a team that’s 1-2 on the road but with some incredible playmakers to watch for including speedy rookie WR George Pickens and rookie RB Jaylen Warren who is currently backing up RB Najee Harris.
