Giddy up! It’s time for another episode of Wise Kracks! On this week’s show, Bill Krackomberger and Jon Orlando dive deep into the ponies. After one of the most electric runnings of the Kentucky Derby, the crew chats with Dan Cronin – aka Dr. Keeneland Dan – who offers incredible insight and advice within the horse racing world.
It also looks like Tom Brady is planning for post-retirement (again). Bill and Jon discuss Brady’s future broadcasting plans and the truck-load of money the legendary quarterback is set to receive once he throws his final pass (again).
We hyped up UFC 274 last week and it delivered! Michael Chandler had one of the most epic knockouts in UFC history. Bill and Jon discuss what’s next for Tony Ferguson after taking a thunderous kick to the head.
There’s more to dive into as the Los Angeles Angels had a pitcher throw a no-hitter, the Maine Governor signed legal sports betting into law, and more!
You could just rename the off-season to “Tom Brady’s Off-Season” as his actions have been at the forefront. Fox announced on Tuesday that the legendary quarterback is set to join their network as its lead NFL analyst. When will this happen you might ask? Well, it’s whenever he decides to give retiring another chance.
His record-setting contract that The New York Post reported has Brady set to earn $375m across 10 years. This will make Brady the highest-paid sports broadcaster.
To put it in more perspective, if this broadcasting contract was his football contract, he’d be the eighth highest-paid player in the NFL. “I think it’s to lock him up before he goes somewhere else,” said Jon.
I think he’ll use it (the broadcast contract) as a bargaining chip for ‘one more year’ with them (the Buccaneers), said Bill.
Deemed the ‘Knockout of the Year’, Tony Ferguson was left almost unrecognizable after taking a kick to the head by Michael Chandler. “When I tell you, and I’m not being dramatic, I thought ‘oh my God, I think we just saw a guy die’,” said Jon. “He was down.
They went to a commercial break, came back and he was still down.” After the fight, Chandler spoke to Sports Illustrated and said,
It’s the exact opposite of the way I planned it. The distance didn’t seem perfect to me. I just threw something up the middle, and it landed. Then I felt the impact and saw him crumble. I never, ever thought I would have thrown a front kick and knocked him out. But here we are.
Next on the UFC’s calendar is UFC Fight Night: Blachowicz vs Rakic.
