Paulo Costa | TALE OF THE TAPE | Marvin Vettori |
30 | Age | 28 |
6 ft. | Height | 6 ft. |
72 in. | Reach | 74 in. |
13-1 | Record | 17-5 |
Brazilian fighter Paulo Costa has not fought since losing his middleweight title opportunity via second-round TKO to champion Israel Adesanya in September 2020 (and claiming he was hungover during the bout).
He has had several fights scheduled this past year but has withdrawn due to both injury and “unknown” contractual reasons. He has also struggled with weight and according to several news outlets, this bout is likely to be fought at a 195-pound catchweight.
Since Costa’s last fight, Italian fighter Marvin Vettori has fought three times and rode a five-fight winning streak into his title fight against Israel Adesanya this past June at UFC 262.
Vettori lost the bout to Adesanya but he went the distance, even securing the champion’s back at one point for a submission attempt.
Although these fighters stand at an equal 6-feet, Vettori will enter the octagon as the younger fighter and will have a two-inch reach advantage in the striking department.
Costa’s biggest advantage would come on the ground, as he boasts a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Vettori has the rank of brown belt in the discipline.
These two fighters are ranked as number-two and number-five within the middleweight division.

Grant Dawson | TALE OF THE TAPE | Rick Glenn |
27 | Age | 32 |
5 ft. 10 in. | Height | 6 ft. |
72 in. | Reach | 70 in. |
17-1 | Record | 22-6-1 |
With only one loss on his record, Grant Dawson earned a submission win on the Dana White Contender Series in 2017 and has remained undefeated in the UFC ever since. Dawson has struggled with weight making weight in the past and the former featherweight now fights in the lightweight division.
He made his lightweight debut in his last outing, knocking out Leonardo Santos in the third round last March.
Rick Glenn has been a member of the UFC roster for one year longer than Dawson but has only managed a 4-3 promotional record. However, like Dawson, Glenn is coming off of a win heading into Saturday, having defeated Joaquim Silva by first-round KO this past summer.
Both fighters hold brown belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Glenn will have a two-inch height advantage over Dawson but it is Dawson who will have the striking edge as he will have a two-inch reach advantage over Glenn.
At -340, Grant Dawson is the largest betting favorite on the main card of Saturday night’s event.

Jessica-Rose Clark | TALE OF THE TAPE | Joselyne Edwards |
33 | Age | 26 |
5 ft. 4 in. | Height | 5 ft. 8 in. |
66 in. | Reach | 70 in. |
10-6, 1 no-contest | Record | 10-3 |
Saturday will mark Jessica-Rose Clark’s sixth octagon appearance and Joselyne Edwards’ second.
Clark has a promotional record of 3-2, with her last bout taking place last September. She took on Sarah Alpar and got the third-round TKO victory – snapping a two-fight losing skid. Edwards currently has a record of 1-1 in the UFC.
Born in Panama, Edwards trains in the United States with Kings MMA. The Australian Clark trains with the Combat Sports Academy and holds a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
The physical advantages are in Edwards’ favor as she will stand four-inches taller than Clark and have a four-inch reach advantage. She is also seven years younger than the Australian.
But don’t let that fool you, as the oddsmakers have Jessica-Rose Clark set as the -140 favorite despite not having fought yet in 2021.

Alex Caceres | TALE OF THE TAPE | Seung Woo Choi |
33 | Age | 28 |
5 ft. 9 in. | Height | 6 ft. |
73.5 in. | Reach | 74.5 in. |
18-12, 1 no-contest | Record | 10-3 |
A southpaw fighter from Florida, Alex Caceres has been a member of the UFC roster since 2011 but has only recently seen significant success, heading into Saturday’s bout against Seung Woo Choi riding a four-fight winning streak.
Although Choi is riding a streak of his own, having won his last three in a row, most recently earning a first-round TKO win over Julian Erosa this past June.
Both strikers, Choi trains out of South Korea and is known for his muay thai practices while Caceres trains his karate style out of his home state with Freedom Fighters MMA.
The physical advantages play into Choi’s favor, but they aren’t incredibly significant. Choi will be standing three inches taller than Caceres and he will have a one-inch reach advantage.
This will be Caceres’ second fight of 2021 and Choi’s third.

Dwight Grant | TALE OF THE TAPE | Francisco Trinaldo |
37 | Age | 43 |
6 ft. 1 | Height | 5 ft. 8 in. |
78 in. | Reach | 70 in. |
11-3 | Record | 26-8 |
Dwight Grant is an interesting story, having not began his MMA journey until the age of 27. He didn’t sign with the UFC until 2018 at the age of 33-years-old. But he has had success in his career thus far and he has a 3-2 record in the UFC.
And his opponent Francisco Trinaldo is even older, entering the cage Saturday at the age of 43-years-old but with much more fighting experience. The Brazilian has been fighting since 2006 and boasts a black belt in kickboxing as well as a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Grant is no stranger to accolades either, holding a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a red belt in kung fu.
Grant stands five-inches taller than Trinaldo and will also enjoy a significant eight-inch reach in the fight. He is also a former pupil of the well-known American Kickboxing Academy.
However, it is Trinaldo that the oddsmakers have set as the -125 favorite, despite coming off of a loss to Muslim Salikhov. Prior to that loss, Trinaldo had won three in a row.

Nicolae Negumereanu | TALE OF THE TAPE | Ike Villanueva |
27 | Age | 37 |
6 ft. | Height | 6 ft. 3 in. |
78 in. | Reach | 73 in. |
10-1 | Record | 18-12 |
Despite the 10-year difference in age, these two fighters are both relatively new to the UFC roster.
Nicolae Negumereanu has two fights of UFC experience, losing his debut in 2019 and then winning his next bout two years later this past June. Ika Villanueva has been a member of the UFC roster since 2020 and has put together a promotional record of 1-3.
Ike Villanueva is a former Fury FC light heavyweight champion who trains with the 4oz. Fight Team. Negumereanu currently trains out of his home country with CSS Dinamo Brasov.
Not only is the Romanian Negumereanu ten years younger than his opponent, he will also enter the octagon this Saturday boasting a five-inch reach advantage. However, Villanueva will have the three-inch advantage in height.
