We are kicking off a new week with a pair of great moneyline bets. The first is on a game between the San Diego Padres and the NL East-leading Phillies. The other features a matchup between two of the league’s most disappointing teams, the New York Mets and Texas Rangers, as they square off in Arlington.
Below, we will share our favorite bet for each of the above games. The odds we use are taken from FanDuel Sportsbook, which offers new players a chance to earn a welcome bonus of $200 in Bonus Bets.

The Phillies own the best record in the NL, but they have now dropped two consecutive series heading into this week. The team has one of the best rosters in baseball but has faced a fairly easy schedule through the first half of the season up until now. While the Padres will represent another stiff test, we are confident the Phillies will bounce back to get a key win tonight.
One reason we love this bet is that Cristopher Sanchez (3-3, 3.07 ERA) will be on the mound. The 27-year-old broke out last season and has been even better in 2024. While he is coming off his worst start of the season, it was just the second time he allowed more than three runs in a start. Considering Sanchez posted a 2.03 ERA in May and has been dominant against Milwaukee in his first start of June, we fully expect him to bounce back at home tonight.
San Diego will have Randy Vasquez making the start tonight. The righty held a bad A’s lineup to one run on seven hits over five innings in his last start. Those aren’t overly impressive numbers, nor is the 27-year-old’s 1.51 WHIP. The Phillies have scored the fourth most runs in the league and own the sixth-best average in baseball. Their deep lineup will make Vasquez pay for allowing too much traffic on the basepaths.

Jon Gray (2-2, 2.17 ERA) has been an unsung hero in 2024. He has given the Rangers a reliable arm as the rest of their rotation has been ravaged by injury. Gray has served as a defacto ace, a reliever, and several long outings when the team needed it most. After being lit up by the Cubs in his season debut, Gray has not allowed more than two runs in any other appearance this season.
The veteran missed some time with an injury at the end of June but has allowed just one run over 5 ⅓ innings since his return. Gray has been on a pitch count, but he should have a longer leash against the Mets tonight. That is terrible news for the Mets, who rank in the middle of the league in both batting average and runs scored.
New York will have David Peterson (2-0, 4.32 ERA) making the start against the the World Series champions tonight. The 28-year-old was terrible in 2023 and hasn’t been any better through three starts in 2024. His last outing came against the Marlins last Wednesday, where they tagged Peterson for four runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings.
While the Rangers lineup has underperformed significantly, they still have a ton of big bats. We expect to see them hit Peterson hard as Gray delivers at least five solid innings, setting up a badly needed win for the Rangers.
