Our first pick of the weekend centers around one of the hottest hitters in baseball, Fernando Tatis Jr. We love his chances of going deep today for a few different reasons. The first is his play in June, as Tatis has a .359 average and .731 slugging percentage so far this month. That includes six home runs, just one short of his total from April.
While some questions about what Tatis would look like after returning from a lengthy PED suspension seem to have been answered. His power has returned, and he already has 15 home runs (9 at home) despite missing the season's first few weeks. Thanks to the Padres ' struggles, his success has flown a bit under the radar, but it is clear that Tatis is again playing at an MVP level.
Josiah Gray (4-6, 3.64 ERA) is another reason we love this prop bet, as he’ll be on the mound for the Nationals tonight. The 25-year-old had a fantastic first two months of the season, but things have fallen apart in June. Gray has a 6.04 ERA this month and has given up at least two home runs in three of his four starts in June. While Tatis has not seen Gray before, the red-hot Padres outfielder will be able to exploit Gray’s struggles tonight.

This is likely the safest bet of the weekend, as we have the league’s home run leader playing in the altitude of Denver. Ohtani (.298 BA, 25 HR, 59 RBI) has been incredible at the plate over the last month. The former MVP already has nine home runs in June, one of which came last night against the Rockies. Ohtani now has seven home runs over his last ten games, and we see him adding another one tonight. Especially when you consider that Ohtani has had back-to-back games with home runs three times this season.
Ohtani will also benefit from facing Chase Anderson (0-1, 4.12 ERA) on the mound tonight. The veteran righty is coming off his worst game, where he allowed seven runs, including two home runs. Anderson has allowed eight home runs over his last five starts, and only three came at Coors Field. He has been a bit better overall in June, but his issues with home runs will be trouble tonight against the red-hot Ohtani.
This is our favorite prop bet of the weekend, as we love Dansby Swanson’s chances for a multi-hit game. A big reason for that is how Swanson fared against the Cardinals this year. While he doesn’t have much experience against St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright (3-1, 5.56 ERA), Swanson does have a .462 average against the Cardinals in 13 at-bats this season. While his overall numbers don’t jump off the page, Swanson can put up big totals in any game, and he’ll have a great chance to do that tonight with Wainwright on the mound.
Speaking of Wainwright (3-1, 5.56), he should allow Swanson to have plenty of opportunities to get hits. The 41-year-old looks like he may finally be approaching the end of his career. His ERA is the highest mark of his lengthy career, as is his 1.67 WHIP. He has been giving up way too many hits lately, allowing 40 hits over his last five starts (28 innings). In fact, Wainwright has allowed seven or more hits in seven of his eight starts this season. Add that to the fact that opponents have a .323 batting average against Wainwright at home, and you can see why we love Swanson’s chances to hit the over on this one.
