Best MLB Player Props October 20

Philadelphia Phillies vs Arizona Diamondbacks

My Pick: Trea Turner 2+ hits (+185 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

There are a couple of reasons we love this prop bet. The first is how well Trea Turner has been swinging the bat. He has a .471 batting average, three home runs, four RBIs, and four stolen bases. We saw This version of Turner in the World Baseball Classic, which he had failed to recapture during the regular season. He has a hit in all nine of the Phillies playoff games so far, and five of those were multi-hit performances. He will likely put up another one in a critical game today, especially with the Diamondbacks going with a bullpen game.

The second reason we love this bet is that reliever Joe Mantiply will be starting. He did not have a good season for Arizona, finishing with a 4.62 ERA. While he was solid in the wildcard and NLDS, Mantiply was shelled by the Phillies in Game 2 of this series. The reliever will likely only last the first inning, but we think Turner tags him for a hit before beating up on the Arizona bullpen.

Houston Astros vs Texas Rangers

My Pick: Yordan Alvarez over 0.5 Home Runs (+350 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

The price of this prop is too good to pass up. Yordan Alvarez has been the best hitter during the 2023 postseason. The left fielder has a .419 batting average, six home runs, and 13 RBIs. He ripped two home runs in Game 2 of the series and has had two hits in three straight games. That shows how well he is seeing the ball, and it is translating into power.

Alvarez dealt with injuries that caused him to miss a lot of time during the season. It derailed his MVP campaign and dampened his home run and RBI totals. He is one of the best hitters in baseball, with the ability to hit for both average and power. Alvarez will face a good pitcher tonight, but we still think he has the advantage.

The Rangers will have Jordan Montgomery on the mound tonight. He has been fantastic since being traded to Texas at the deadline and threw 6 ⅓ scoreless innings in Game 1 of this series. However, the Orioles were able to hit him hard in the ALDS, tagging him for nine hits and five runs (four earned). That total included a home run, showing that the red-hot pitchers can be beaten.
