Best MLB Prop Bets Today September 08 23

Today’s matchup has several great NRFI bets, but two stand out above the rest. The first comes from a game between NL West rivals as the Arizona Diamondbacks head north to take on the San Francisco Giants. The second is from a stellar pitching matchup between the Orioles and Royals.

Below, we’ll share why we like these NRFI bets to hit today. We’ll be using odds from BetMGM Sportsbook, which is currently offering new users a $1,500 First Bet Offer when they sign up using promo code WSNMGM.

Best NRFI Bets Today: Diamondbacks vs. Giants (4:05 PM EST)

Under 0.5 Runs (-130 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

Our first game comes from one of the best pitching matchups of the day. On one side is Zac Gallen (3-0, 1.64 ERA) and the Diamondbacks. The ace is a favorite to win the 2024 NL Cy Young and has looked the part early in 2024. He is 3-0 in four starts, with the lone no-decision coming after he allowed three runs over five innings in Coors Field. In his other three starts, he has allowed just one run on ten hits over 17 innings.

Gallen will be set up to succeed tonight as he faces a weak Giants offense. While San Francisco is thirteenth in the league in batting average (.246), they are eighteenth in runs scored (84). Given how hard Gallen has been to hit this season, it's hard to imagine them doing much against the ace tonight.

The Giants will have top prospect Kyle Harrison (2-1, 4.70 ERA) starting tonight. The 22-year-old has been strong through his first two starts, registering three quality starts during that span. While his ERA isn’t great, it has taken opponents at least once through the lineup. As a result, he has yet to allow a first-inning run to score.

While the D-Backs have a ton of offensive talent, they came into this series cold, scoring three or fewer runs in three of their previous four games.

Best NRFI Bets Today: Orioles vs. Royals (8:40 PM EST)

Under 0.5 (-140 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

This matchup features two teams seeing the ball well, but they’ll have their top arms on the mound. Baltimore will have newly acquired ace Corbin Burnes (2-0, 2.28 ERA) on the mound.

The former Cy Young winner was supposed to help Baltimore add another AL East title this season, and he has lived up to the hype. Burnes has yet to allow more than two earned runs through his first four starts. A big reason for that is his 0.93 WHIP, showing that he is missing bats without walking batters. Burnes did face the Royals last season as a Brewer, pitching six scoreless innings.

Burnes will be set up to deliver another strong stat line today against the Royals. While they have been playing as well as anyone in the AL Central, their offense dropped off heading into this series. They were held to two or fewer runs in three of their previous four games. Given their lack of depth, we don’t see them turning things around against one of the best pitchers in baseball.

The Royals will have lefty Cole Ragans making the start opposite of Burnes. The 26-year-old broke out in 2023, going 5-2 with a 2.64 ERA and 1.07 WHIP across 12 starts. He’s been even better to start this season, delivering impressive performances against good lineups like the Mets and Orioles.
