We start our day focusing on the matchup between the Chicago Cubs and Baltimore Oilers as Shota Imanaga looks to round back into form and shut down the Orioles offense. Before that gets underway, we target the matchup between the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox in game one of their double header as both offenses are poised to struggle against a pair of familiar faces for our daily series.

After threatening Zack Wheeler for the top spot of the NL Cy Young oddsboard, Shota Imanaga has quickly fallen back down to reality after a rough stretch of play. Opposing offenses have seemingly made contact at will against the Cubs ace, tarnishing his elite metrics in the process.
Once leading the league in most key pitching metrics, Imanaga now takes the mound with a more pedestrian ERA of 3.16, a WHIP of 1.110, a FIP of 3.39, 92 Total Strikeouts, 15 Batters Walked, 86 Total Hits Allowed, and 32 Earned Runs Against.
Not only has his recent cold stretch of play ruined his chances of winning the NL Cy Young award, but Pittsburgh’s rookie sensation Paul Skenes has now leaped over him as the betting favorite to win the NL Rookie of the Year award as well.
Luckily for the sake of the NRFI, we have plenty of tape on Imanaga that shows how dominant he can be when he is in full control of his command. He managed to shut down the best of them, rattling opposing batters with his elite blend of control and accuracy while painting around the strike zone. Every bit of his production will be needed against an Orioles offense that ranks well above league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage.
As for Baltimore’s defense, AL Cy Young contender Corbin Burnes takes the mound with a great opportunity to string together another impressive performance against a reeling Cubs offense to help close the gap on current leader Tarik Skubal. Burnes has flashed brilliance throughout his 2024 campaign, entering the contest with an ERA of 2.32 and a WHIP of 1.021, and now faces off against an offense that ranks below league average in the same previously mentioned offensive metrics.

After their game on Tuesday got postponed due to inclement weather, the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White are now locked into a double header on Wednesday. That creates a beautiful NRFI opportunity for us bettors as their first game of the day features a contest between Simeon Woods Richardson and Erick Fedde who both have made routine appearances in our daily NRFI series.
Simeon Woods Richardson is presented a great opportunity to continue to build on his hot start to his 2024 campaign, facing off against a White Sox offense that ranks near dead last across the board in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. While his Strikeout Rate is low, Richardson gets the benefit of a backend that ranks above league average in Defensive Efficiency when opposing batters make contact.
As for Erick Fedde, he has been one of the lone bright spots for a rather lackluster White Sox team that struggles in nearly every facet of the field. Even with a back end that ranks well below league average in Defensive Efficiency, Fedde possesses more than enough production to give a surging Twins offense fits as his FIP of 3.59 indicates. With his ability to limit opposing contact, expect the Twins offense to struggle to get into scoring position.
