The Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers will battle on Wednesday night. The game will be headlined by Patrick Sandoval, who will throw for the Angels against Michael Lorenzen of the Tigers. The total is set at eight runs, so bookmakers believe this could go either way. These offenses have been inconsistent all season, but we like limited runs to be scored.

Sandoval has been decent at times, but his game has been plagued by walks in 2023. He is allowing less than one hit per inning, with just seven homers on the season. However, he has walked 39 batters in 93 innings, which puts him in difficult situations.

When you bet on the NRFI here, you’re betting on Sandoval to limit his walks early in the game. If he does this, the Tigers will have a tough time hitting because their offense isn’t that good. Detroit has a .299 team OBP, which is one of the worst in baseball and they only have 95 total homers.

The only chance Detroit has of scoring early is if Sandoval hands over free passes. It’s possible, but we like him to settle in against Detroit. Lorenzen has been a star for the Tigers all year. He is 5-6 because of his team’s lackluster offense, but the wing has recorded a 3.49 ERA with a 1.09 WHIP.

There are a few big hitters at the top of Los Angeles’ lineup like Shohei Ohtani, but look for Lorenzen to smoothly navigate the lineup. His command will lead to an NRFI in this contest.

Atlanta Braves vs Boston Red Sox - Spencer Strider (RHP) vs Brayan Bello (RHP)

The Boston Red Sox have the chance to make a statement against the Braves on Wednesday at Fenway Park. The total is set at 10.5 runs, but the pitchers in this game have been exceptional. Boston has their new ace pitching in Brayan Bello, who has burst onto the scene quickly in Titletown.

Bello started the season poorly but has delivered since the first month of the season. He is coming off a terrible performance against the Oakland Athletics, but prior to this, he posted seven quality starts in a row for his team. Bello is 7-6 on the season with a 3.6 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP.

He doesn’t have elite strikeout ability, but he is tough to hit with two strikes because of his command. Strider will throw for the Braves, and he is 11-3 with a 3.78 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. Strider is one of the toughest pitchers to face in baseball because of his strikeout ability.

He has recorded 14.58 K/9, which is the highest of his big league career. As good as the Red Sox are at the top of their lineup, they’re susceptible to Strider’s swing-and-miss ability. Both offenses have a lot of pop, but it’s worth taking a chance on the NRFI in this game.

Every batter who will come to the box in the first inning can hit a home run. Yet, the value of the NRFI is tremendous considering how good both pitchers have been in 2023. For this reason, it’s also wise to lean toward the under on Wednesday.

New York Mets vs New York Yankees - Jose Quintana (RHP) vs Carlos Rodon (RHP)

Under 0.5 Runs (-120 on FanDuel Sportsbook)

The Subway Series is always one of the most exciting matchups of the MLB season. The Mets will travel to the Bronx to face the Yankees on Wednesday night, and the game total is set at 8.5 runs. The Yankees and Mets haven’t found their groove. The Mets' postseason dreams look like they’re nearly dead, while the Yankees are holding on for dear life.

This game is good for the NRFI because neither offense has done much in the second half of the season. Jose Quintana will throw for the Mets, and he just started pitching for the team. In his five innings this season, he has allowed six hits. Thankfully for Quintana and NRFI bettors, the Yankees don’t have Aaron Judge at the top of their lineup.

We expect Carlos Rodon to shine for New York in this game. He has struggled to find a rhythm since coming off the IL, but he is a big-game pitcher. Rodon can maneuver a weak Mets lineup at the top. He will need to get through Pete Alonso, but this is doable if he keeps the ball down in the zone.
