It’s a full slate of games on Monday, kicking off our week with plenty of YRFIs to choose from. Two YRFIs stick out above the rest as a crop of underwhelming pitchers take the mound. While the likes of the Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, and Miami Marlins may not strike fear with their regressing offenses, they now get the benefit of rounding back into form against struggling pitchers. For more information about the YRFI market and what factors make them worth a wager, take a look at our breakdown of what are YRFI bets.
As for where to wager on YRFIs, FanDuel Sportsbook has been the pioneer for the market as they routinely put out lines before everyone else and at very favorable odds when compared to the rest of the mobile sportsbooks. It’s been a nightmare start to the season for the Houston Astros, a team that was pegged as one of the favorites to win the MLB World Series but is now closer to last place in the league with a record of 15-25. Currently tied for last in the AL West, time is starting to slowly slip away for their chances to reclaim the AL West division title, and instead will have to shift their sights towards claiming a wildcard spot.
Luckily for the Astros, positive regression looms large for an offense that already ranks near the top of the board in Team Total Hits and On Base Percentage. While they have managed to get their batters on base, they have struggled with bringing them in when in scoring position as their offense regresses back down to league average in Total Runs Scored and Team Total RBIs.
They now have the opportunity to turn their Hits into Runs Scored when they face off against the Athletics Ross Stripling who has struggled this season. So far this year, Stripling has an ERA of 5.14, a WHIP of 1.571, 29 Total Strikeouts, an astonishing 56 Hits Allowed, 10 Batters Walked, and 24 Earned Runs Against in eight games played. That spells potential disaster against the likes of Jose Altuve, Kyle Tucker, and contending home run leader Yordan Alvarez.
As for the Athletics, they have had a surprisingly successful start to the season for a team that was projected to finish near dead last. Their offense may be underwhelming, but they have as good a chance as any to stay competitive against the Astros Spencer Arrighetti. A popular fade target for our daily YRFI series, Arrighetti has severely struggled this year as he possesses an ERA of 8.44 and a WHIP of 2.016.

Before the Astros and Athletics get underway, we start off our day targeting the YRFI in the Miami Marlins and Detroit Tigers matchup as two pitchers prone to getting shelled against take the mound. Even with both offenses ranking well below average in Team Total Hits, On Base Percentage, Runs Scored, and RBIs, the underwhelming play of Sixto Sanchez and Kenta Maeda will elevate their batting production.
Starting with Sanchez, he has made 10 appearances as the Marlins rotational pitcher while starting just three of them. In just 18 total innings pitched, Sanchez has an ERA of 7.50, a WHIP of 1.667, 11 Total Strikeouts, 23 Hits Allowed, 7 Batters Walked, and 15 Earned Runs Against. This positions the Tigers' offense to potentially round back into form, bringing a run in early off the backs of their top-heavy batting lineup.
As for the Tigers' defense, they are captained by Kenta Maeda as he looks to shake off his regression against the Miami Marlins' anemic offense. Maeda was brought in to potentially bolster the Tigers pitching staff but has yet to do his part as he currently possesses an ERA of 6.75 and a WHIP of 1.402. Even without Luis Arraez and his near league leading hitting ability, the Marlins offense should still find success early and often against the struggling Maeda.
