DC United vs NYC FC: Predictions, Odds and Roster Notes

One of the worst teams in the league is going on the road to face one of the best teams in the league.

With DC looking to redeem themselves after last week’s loss, the results of this match may not be pretty for the New York football club.

How to Watch

What: DC United vs NYCFC

Where: Audi Stadium Washington D.C.

When: Sunday, April 21 @ 4 PM EST

How: MLS Live ESPN, MLS Live DAZN

NYCFC (away)

Head Coach: Domenec Torrent

Key Players: Alexander Ring, Sean Johnson

Standings: 0-5-1 (11th Eastern Conference)

NYCFC has only lost one match (4-0 loss to Toronto), but they also haven’t found a way to win any matches either.

Being 0-5-1 isn’t going to help them make a run at the MLS Cup.

The very fact that they have only lost one game lets you know that they are (at least) an above average defensive team.

But If they want to be able to pull themselves out of the doldrums of the last few years, then they are going to have to find a way to score some goals.

Unfortunately, they shouldn’t expect to see anything change against the Washington D.C. club.

Washington touts one of the staunchest defenses, and anything that their defenders don’t stop, their goalkeeper Bill Hamid cleans up for them.

The saving grace is that D.C. United showed themselves to be less than invincible in their match against LAFC, but New York doesn’t have anywhere near the firepower as LAFC does.

I suppose it’s possible for New York to get a victory here, but it’s highly unlikely.

D.C. United (home)

Head Coach: Ben Olsen

Key Players: Bill Hamis, Wayne Rooney, Joseph Mora

Standings: 4-2-1 (1st Eastern Conference)

The best team in the eastern conference got their proverbial butts handed to them last week against LAFC losing 4-0.

Being touted as one of the best defenses in the league, it is definitely something that they are upset about (and rightfully so).

There is no doubt that they are going to want to take their frustration out on this week’s opponents and they couldn’t have a better matchup.

New York has a solid defense, but their offense isn’t even close to being good enough to score enough points to win this game against D.C.

Odds and Predictions

As long as D.C. comes out looking to be aggressive, then you can expect this game to be put away relatively quickly.

Not only does New York not have the firepower to score enough points to beat D.C. but their defense just isn’t good enough to stop this club from scoring.

Expect a low scoring game, but also expect the few goals there are to come from the D.C. side.
