The USWNT Success and New Jersey Locals

It seems obvious in context, but the US team in the Women’s World Cup are the hot favourite for online sportsbooks in New Jersey.

In all likelihood this popularity is not unfounded, with the US team surging forward to win the quarterfinals with Spain.

The team are still tipped to win this match and show no signs of slowing down.

If you’re a New Jersey native, it is time to hop on this winning train before it leaves the station.

Here are a few reasons why you should be watching.

New Jersey Natives: Carli Lloyd

Aside from the obvious patriotic connection to watching the US team make the quarter finals, there is a New Jersey connection.

Local Delran native has been outperforming as per usual, scoring a double in the match against Chile.

Which is pretty impressive, especially when you consider she started out on the bench at the beginning of the World Cup.

If the team along with Carli can have a repeat of the magical moment in 2015 when she scored three times in the first 16 minutes of the final to seal victory, you will be kicking yourself to miss it live.

It should be a given that if you’re from Jersey, your eyes should be glued to the screen as the US moves into the finals.

New Jersey Natives: Tobin Heath

It’s almost a rarity to have two star players representing the US both from Jersey, but luckily we have two locals to cheer on.

The current Portland Thorns midfielder was robbed of a goal of her own against Sweden after some tricky footwork led to the ball bouncing off a defender to be called an own goal.

Nonetheless, Tobin proved herself to be an extremely skilled player in high pressure situations and was awarded Player of the Match for the game against Sweden.

Tough Competition

The USWNT is leading their group by a wide margin, especially after a destructive match against Thailand whereby they won 13-0.

Despite this, there is still plenty of tough competition to come including Championship rivals Japan.

Many countries are performing better than expected, with France leading their group undefeated.

Norway is also a strong contender, beating out Australia easily in the last round.

Why You Should Be Watching

The Team is looking to take home another cup this year and with the help from star New Jersey players, they might very well do so.

After some spectacular performances, it’s time to start watching if you haven’t already, especially if you’re a Jersey local.

It is no surprise that the US team is most popular within New Jersey online sportsbooks and with online sports betting becoming easier and more rewarding than ever, maybe this is the perfect opportunity to jump on board.
