Celtics vs Nets Predictions and Picks
These two teams couldn’t be on more opposite trends. Already missing quite a few key contributors, the Nets return from their road trip winless and unable to field Kyrie Irving. The Celtics should earn themselves a win and leapfrog the Nets in the Eastern Conference table.
Pick:
Boston Celtics def. Brooklyn Nets (-240)

How Can the Celtics beat the Nets?
The Brooklyn Nets are on a terrible down streak, having lost their last 8 games. The Celtics have improved as of late, but they can’t take the Nets lightly regardless of the lineup that they field.
Despite the Nets’ massive losing streak, they’ve still shown themselves to be a capable offensive team. They’re averaging 107.9 points per game while making 12.1 threes per game on 37.0% efficiency from deep.
It is important for the Celtics to be aggressive from tip-off in order to stave off the Nets. If they can’t, Brooklyn still have the standards and experience to steal a result.
Celtics Key Player: (G) Dennis Schroder

The Boston Celtics have been on an excellent run of form. Despite apparently being on the trade block, Schroder is coming off of a fantastic performance in his last game.
In just 20 minutes of play against the Orlando Magic, Schroder posted 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists on 53.3% shooting from the field. He was a plus-15 off the bench, and was second on the Celtics in scoring in their victory.
After Tatum and Brown, the Celtics are usually unsure of where offensive production will come from. If Schroder can find his scoring touch and lead the Celtics second unit again, a win over the Nets seems inevitable.
How Can the Nets beat the Celtics?
The Brooklyn Nets have had the odds against them for a while now, with injuries hampering their performance. Once at the top of the East, their current run of form has seen them fall out of the Eastern Conference playoff race.
If the Brooklyn Nets want to get a result against the Boston Celtics, they need to be aggressive in the paint and win the rebounding battle. It won’t be easy, as the Celtics are 3rd in rebounds per game (46.5), 4th in defensive rebounds per game (35.7), and 9th in offensive rebounds per game (10.8).
Brooklyn are just average on the boards, ranking 15th overall with 44.9 per game. It’ll need to be a team effort to compete on the glass, as Brooklyn project to be without their top 5 rebounders.
Nets Key Player: (F) Blake Griffin

— NBA on ESPN (@ESPNNBA) November 1, 2021
The Brooklyn Nets have the odds against them in this matchup, especially with so many key contributors out. Off the back of a solid outing in his last game, Blake Griffin will have to step up in order to rescue a victory in this matchup.
In his last game, a loss to the Denver Nuggets, Griffin was solid. He posted 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists on 7 of 12 shooting from the field and 5 of 7 shooting from three. Unfortunately, he and much of the Nets roster couldn’t control the Nuggets in the paint.
The Celtics present much less offensive threat in the paint, and Griffin’s shooting ability should open up pathways for them. If Griffin can find his scoring touch early, the Nets certainly have a chance at victory.
