The LA Clippers are a solid defensive team who have been able to stay competitive without their key stars. However, off the back of a gritty win, the Lakers seem to be in the offensive and defensive mind-set to take down the gritty Clippers.

Coming off of a win against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Los Angeles Lakers will look to replicate their energy against the LA Clippers. On the second leg of a back-to-back, the Lakers whether or not they can keep up will be the question.
The Lakers started strong in their last game, winning the first quarter against the Trail Blazers 28-16. However, the Lakers went on to lose the second and third quarter by a combined total of 59 to 44. Despite losing control, the Lakers were able to salvage the game in the fourth.
The Clippers aren’t the most offensively talented team due to their injuries, so setting a quick pace to open the game will be key. After a disappointing performance from Russell Westbrook, it’s the perfect game for him to bounce back.

The Los Angeles Lakers may have been without LeBron James, but they’ve been happy to have Anthony Davis back in the lineup. In his last match against the Portland Trail Blazers, Davis starred.
After sitting out his last game, Anthony Davis took full advantage of his short rest period. In a win over the Trail Blazers, Davis posted 30 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 37 minutes of play. He was efficient from the field, shooting 10 of 18 on the night, but was also aggressive as he shot 10 of 14 from the free-throw line.
With James’ status in doubt due to knee issues, Davis will again be the focal point for the Lakers. He’s a capable two-way threat, but he’ll still need some support from his teammates.
Despite the loss of their two biggest stars, the LA Clippers have been able to keep themselves afloat in an incredibly competitive Western Conference. Grit, desire, and defensive intensity has defined the Clippers in their victories.
Against a team that needs to push the pace to open up their offence, the Clippers need to be locked in on the defensive side of the ball. Seventh overall in field-goal percentage allowed at 44.2% and third overall in three-point percentage allowed at 33.1%, the Clippers certainly have the resume that suggests they can slow the Lakers.
LA must set the defensive tone early against the Lakers. If they can’t, and allow the Lakers to put them in a hole, the Clippers don’t have the firepower to catch up.

Despite the LA Clippers missing their stars, they’ve had plenty of players ready to step up and contribute. As of late, it has been third-year forward Amir Coffey who has found his form.
Coffey has been fantastic for the Clippers over his last five games, averaging 19.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 33.0 minutes per game. His efficiency has been more than welcome, as he’s shot 49.2% from the field and 41.2% from three over that stretch.
Against the Lakers, Coffey will need to maintain his offensive efficiency. Coffey’s production will be put to the test against Los Angeles’ defenders.
